I really enjoyed this deep dive as someone who started reading Wolfstar fics in 2003. :) There's so much more that has been lost to time/not recorded on the internet archive, sadly -- the original Shoebox Project archive was lost in the 2011 ddos attack on LiveJournal by the Russian Government, but I'm so glad to see it's still hanging around and being mentioned in fandom as an OG fan! Another lost archive that never made it fully onto AO3 was a collaborative project dedicated to imagining that after Sirius fell through the veil in OotP he didn't die but instead traveled to various universes. Different authors would write different parallel universes he visited, with every story ending with him finding the veil and going through it again in the hopes of making it home. The project was never finished and the website has been lost to time. Sorry for the rambling comment, I just really appreciate the older history of the ship making it into your video and being treated with such care -- I often feel that people discussing the state of the current Marauders fandom/characterization don't look back before around 2012 or so when AO3 became more widely used after the ddos attack on LiveJournal.

Oh, I did want to add that another influential fic I remember (pre-Casting Moonshadows) is Stealing Harry by copperbadge! It's not Marauders-era but it is a pretty major Wolfstar fic in the history of the fandom imo. Also Beyond the Veil by Atalan is a classic Bring Back Black fic that I was obsessed with in the 2000s to the point where I bought a book of translated Virgil. Additionally, this was before even my time but the SBRL Yahoo! Mailing List (and subsequent fan archive) was so crucial for building community for this ship in a time when so many major fan archives were banning all slash content.

A lot of people are leaving the Potterverse thanks to JKR's recent behaviour and I must admit I did leave the fandom for THREE bloody years but the lovely fanon Wolfstar ship more or less brought me back this month. What I realised is that just because JKR is a flawed person doesn't mean her books are crap. In fact, the Potterverse is popukar for a reason. Are they perfect books? No. Did JKR still manage to create some of the best characters ever? Absolutely, and the fandom made things better with their creativity. Now whenever I hear the song "Moonshadow" by Cat Stevens, I fondly think of Remus Lupin as portrayed in the fic "Casting Moonshadows".

I discovered wolfstar in 2019 and I would never have imagined the boom that the fandom had, there was much less content than now and even less in spanish, but suddenly I was on tiktok and everyone was crazy about atyd and wolfstar, It was very crazy but fun.
