Not bad for her first outing as a commander, especially since she doesn't even have anything resembling a military education as a peasant's daughter! Though it probably helps that it seems the Lord-Commander only brought militia troops rather than proper regulars.

This is what makes a Wolfwalker so dangerous. Robyn not only has her wolf abilities and command of the pack, but she knows human weaknesses and how to avoid attack. Plus, she has first hand experiences with how bad guns in that time were compared to today (all powder, no bullets, took forever to load, only had one good shot).

I think that Robyn was better educated than most girls of the time and had seen the soldiers training enough to know that they were better suited for fighting in fields than forests. She had joined her father on his trapping trips and was more comfortable in a forest than them.

I love to see Robyn taking ownership of her Wolfwalker form. She said "our forest," not "your forest," meaning that she feels she belongs with the wolves, not the humans. She might still be a human and she still has her humanity, but she knows where and with who she belongs: in the forest, with her wolf pack. IMHO, the wolves in this story have more humanity than the actual humans. I'm proud of Robyn!

Truth be told, I didn't really think much of the soldiers. Even with the "Lord Protector's" delusional threats driving them along, they weren't a threat. Mankind, for all our intelligence, is quite _fragile._ We have no muscle worth speaking of, our teeth aren't sharp, we have no claws, no wings, no powerful senses aside from our eyes and ears. Our only real advantage, as shown in just about every situation involving adversity, is our sheer adaptability; if we deem it necessary, we can alter, mutate, even *mutilate* our own natures. Behavioral patterns that would take other carbon-based lifeforms thousands, even millions of years to evolve, we can accomplish _between seconds._ The problem, since we rarely ever leave our comfort zones unprepared, is that we too easily forget this distinct advantage in favor of relying on precautions. As shown above, preparations mean nothing if the enemy is cunning and creative. Chaos will *always* overcome Order in the end. I'm not insinuating, by the way, that these soldiers weren't intelligent: they were armed, alert and had a plan. The problem is that they were geared up for a _human_ war. The weapons they had would have allowed them to make a fair account of themselves against normal creatures. Thing is, they were trying to kill a pack that is currently being commanded by a _Wolfwalker,_ a human wielding the power of the Wyld. Human beings can be dangerous enough even with our frail, furless bodies. But combining our constantly fluctuating nature with the strength and power of wild creatures? Those men didn't stand a chance.

It’s important to understand that Robyn and the wolf walkers had no choice but to fight. They were backed against the mountain, no way to escape while dragging the unconscious mother wolf (without the soldiers noticing), and they were burning that part of the forest down. If they could escape and avoid getting some wolves killed, they would have. But despite the odds, Robyn chose to stand and fight against this mob of humans. That’s what makes her so brave.

The core belief of puritanism is that hedonism distracts from God so remove all hedonistic acts to worship God and then have a great time in Heaven.), the native Irish will be a mixture of Irish Protestant and Irish Catholic (both were persecuted terribly over the years. Most of the Irish protestant congregations were lost and now are either Presbyterian or Methodist or COI. The only acceptable churches were the Catholic church and the Church of Ireland depending on who was in charge) and Robin and her father will be some vague form of Protestant.
