Malta has restored a lot of buildings. Now they are working on the infrastructure. New roads, plumbing, and drainage system. It's a great time to be in Malta.

Love it. I love Malta in summer the most. People tend to find the heat waves are extremely hot, but I was raised in Malta and for me that reminds me of my childhood. Will miss Malta this summer as I tend to visit every year but this year I cannot. So this video is great as gets me there in spirit.

Just got back from Malta and Gozo, Walter's video is quite accurate. Unusually for November we had no rain although it was windy on Gozo. This was low season so not packed with tourists. Mdina and Valetta highly recommended. Don't miss the prehistoric temples in south Malta. Great food ... rabbit and pasta dishes were fantastic. Bus transport was very convenient and cheap.

I love that you love Malta:) A quick tip: To pronounce Mdina properly, add an "invisible I" before it--it should sound like "Imdina." The "invisible I" will help with words such as "mqarrun" as well.

Before he said it I was curious to hear how he'd say the word should he mention it ,the way he said it or the way it is usually said in Malta...He is saying the schwa (or as it's often called in Malta a ''vokali tal-leħen''-''vowel of the voice'' (or simply the English short ''u'' sound in button, the sound in between ''ng'' and 'l' in ''triangle'' or any minimized vowels as the ''e'' in ''butter'')behind the ''m'' rather than before so he says muh-di-naa (in International Phonetic Alphabet ,/mədiːnæ/ rather than /əmdiːnæ/),haha,still getting it though :),And ,Yes, I like linguistics...

I used this video to help prepare for my Maltese trip. It helped out a lot! The only curve ball for Americans is dealing with soda. Mountain Dew does not exist, and Fanta is not orange soda as much as it is Polar's Orange Dry. Otherwise, the people are genuinely bi-lingual. Meaning that in all my interactions the pauses to think of the word that would happen, is more akin to when anybody can't think of the precise word i.e. "That umm...vehicle over there" opposed to "That 2-door coupe over there."

to be honest.. it is easy to find restaurant that offer maltese food. i dont think there are any restaurants with expensive tourist traps...here.. the locals and tourists eat in the same restaurants.. since it is a small island. i would recommend you to go marsaxlokk, valletta, mdina, golden bay, mellieha, birgu, comino, gozo (many places - small er island than Malta and you go by ferry)...

I would love to visit Malta, the beaches, the history. I understand they have ancient caves with lots of Ancient Greek I've heard from friends in the U.K. That islands around Italy as well as Spain are the most popular places to visit from England, with Malta down the list. Maybe that has to do with nightlife drinking, drugging, nudity, etc being more popular on the Spanish, Italian Islands. I'm just interested in great beaches and interesting WWII historical sites to visit, as well as the ancient stuff. I don't need to get bombed or have drugged sex with people who's names I won't remember in the morning. If that's your thing, great. I don't live in Europe so a visit isn't a casual deal I can make any time I wish with cheap Ryan Air tickets. People talk a lot about Fero, never heard of the place, Portugal maybe.

Basically. I am maltease. So basically Malta is a small island. Busy, Hard working and Beautiful Island! There are many famous restaurant and historic buildings/ items. One of the world's largest Cannons is in Malta. The climate is often sunny but you better come in summer cause right now it's kinda cold and rainy.. The sea is heaven Malta is one of the best places to go relax next to a calm sea and drink some wine/cocktails. There are many typical Maltease starters and foods. and i think you should give them a try! Gozo is also a great place to visit. it's only like 30minutes away by boat? It's just simply beautiful! the town is really small and peaceful at times. If you are a bit funky You should go to Paceville in Malta which is basically a place filled with discos Gambling ect. But be careful.. Drunk people might hurt you :( Malta is also known for it's kind heart, most of the people will stop and help you, unless they don't know the type of subject or are in a hurry. We use the Euros like the video said. Basically here we have Maltease transport which is kinda lame Cause you have to book for your Tal'Linja Card from before so you can benefit of riding the bus at a cheap price. Need more info. Just reply with your question

I am Maltese! There is a catamaran service from VALLETTA to POZZALLO (sicily), but not straight to italy. You can go as a passenger or you can take a car with you. 60-ish euros per passenger and 130-ish for a car. It takes 1 hour 30 minutes. In my opinion if you're not planning on a road trip catch an airmalta flight to catania it will only take 25 minutes to arrive and you will arrive straight in the heart of sicily. Then to go to italy you have to catch a ferry from MILAZZO or PALERMO.

Alex Vasiliadis, Mdina is the current name we call it now, but until the time of the Knights of St John's era it was still called by its original name, Medina. Plus, for certain foreigners is a bit hard to pronounce "md" together in the beginning of a word.

I assure you, *****, it is a bit hard. Even for us Maltese, because to be able to pronounce it well we usually add an 'i' in front of the name during conversations. Us Maltese we put the 'i' in front and the foreigners put an 'e' between the 'M' and the 'd'.
@Tinilbleach

+Alexios Vasileiadis People may call it what they want. It's nice that they use historic names not just the crap we have these days. That will really get them enthuastic from where the name actually originated. i say let each person to be free in how they pronounce or say words unless it's something completly different

i took pizza in Rome and it sucked HARD! I've had tons of better pizzas in Malta. In my opinion Maltese restaurants have the best value for money food. The quality is good in most restaurants and the portions are usually large. Beverages are quite cheap compared to European standards (in Rome and Paris a coca cola costs 4 euros in restaurant, in Malta it costs 1.50-2).
