But canon X-men, Mysterio can't do that to Wolverine because of the psychic barriers Xavier has put into his mind to protect him from psychic attacks and control. Only lvl 10 psychics can defeat his psionic shield. Lvl 10 psychics are virtually non existent. Mysterio is no where near a lvl 10. I guess in this universe Logan does not have psionic shielding.

Old Man Logan actually did appeared as a cameo and one of the variants that Wade met. Different from the ones from "Logan", he shot Deadpool with a shotgun under his poncho ala Clint Eastwood, but it's unclear if Mysterio is in that universe.

Most of the X-Men could restrain Logan, some of them quite easily. Hell, someone like Colossus could simply stand there and hold him until Wolverine figures out why his claws are just bouncing off the "villain." They don't have to go soft on him either due to his healing factor. This was just plot-induced stupidity through and through.

this is from the old man logan storyline (which the movie logan is VERY loosely based on) all the marvel heroes essentially becoming broken down and just try to survive a world where villains rule. except hulk who started a incestuous gang and a couple of his children killed logan's family. its a dark but good storyline

There’s an implication that Prof. X massacred the X men and students at the academy by accident with his AOE mind seizures. A radio announcer talks about it after the hotel incident before Logan turns off the radio

Yes the plot twist in the movie was the director subverting everyone's expectations by having Charles be the one who killed the X-Men and not actually Logan like in the comics. You don't find that out until that radio transmission and then when Charles dies.
