what was the solution, how was she able to find a spot to park it? how much was the cost? These 2 things are the biggest issues, price and finding a location to park a tiny house. I wish you would ask each tiny house owner these 2 questions when doing your videos. It would help out this community a lot!!

Calla Merkel lol of you want a tiny that looks like a mansion it’ll be around 50-100k but there are many (honestly is the majority) tiny houses that start around 10k and average of 30-40k wich is way cheaper that living in the city (which a majority of people living on tiny houses live in city in comparison to rural areas where housing is way cheaper) average rent anywhere in the city will be around 1k so paying $300 rent for a lot is pretty nice

Elise, the only issue with land is water/sewer drainage. Otherwise it seems like you could get a permit to park it somewhere that is otherwise off-limits to being built on since solar energy+movable structure negate much of the impact on the countryside that the laws are trying to protect.

The tiny house movement is certainly inspiring. However, for those of us contemplating tiny houses, we really need to know the entire cost! In other words, how much did the owner pay for material, labour and a place to park the house? If the owner obtained materials or labour free, please let us know that too. Its extremely frustating to listen to a video where details are not available. For example, if a tiny home owner tells the audience, I only paid $20, 000 for my home but neglects to tell us that their partner is an architect who designed the space for free or that they park their home on their parent's farm, then that is misleading as not all of us would have access to free design services or free land. Can the maker of this video please let us know the entire cost of this tiny home? Thanks.

For commercial builders, you can just look up prices... Look up companies like Incredible Tiny Homes and check out their website for posted prices... It's the DIY'ers that are iffy on that score because they don't always keep track or it's because it's hard to tell because how they did it may be a one off... Like getting free materials that someone donated to them and they don't know the cost of the material for someone who would have to buy it, etc. Mind, some people also don't want to share costs because there's lot of cruel people online and will either criticize them for spending too little and calling their home a homeless tent or say they spent too much even if they had special needs that had to be met... But it's not that hard to figure out once you know what's involved and how costs can vary depending on your choices and what needs you need met...

We have a laminate wood floor in our van it has been working great so far (2 years) and we have been in all types of weather. For our install we put down 1/2 inch foam, then 1/4 inch plywood, and a vapor barier. We added the wood floor to the whole van, then built our cabinets on top screwing our cabinets into the wood floor. This in my opinion has helped us secure our cabinets and keep the floor from moving.

This house is wider and awesome, people don't realize how good you sleep when you don't have to deal annoying neighbors, that's what happens when you live in an apartment building. when you sleep in a tiny house you hear nature around, and if rain is even better, priceless. I really don’t understand why tiny home are illegal in BC. They’re such a great solution to the increasing population in large cities and urban sprawl. Shrinking our square footage is great for cutting down costs and allows more space for a number of things outdoors.

For the channel, I would prefer if you put out projects where people live - for me it's about the people and how it works for them to live in their space that inspires me, not the "empty" space in it self. If you interviewed the builder or architect we might understand better why the design has come out as it is. Interviewing someone who doesn't even live there yet (and maybe might not ever legally do so) is just not very interesting...

Well. It's not so much the municipalities but it's who is behind them... Developers and mortgage lenders... If people realize that they can live in a home for under $50 000, suddenly it becomes affordable and debt-free. You see the problem...

Since I want to live in a secluded off grid spot, rural would be no problem for me.
@terri6396 жыл бұрын
Why would this seem surprising? I actually own a farm that is more than 100 acres and also have a house in a city. I would allow people to park on my farm, but not on my lot in the city. You're already too close to neighbors in the city and it isn't always built for the setup that tiny houses need. It might also be illegal in some areas. On rural farmland no one cares what you do. I am not really sure your point here. I think you are trying to imply that rural people are more generous somehow, but that makes zero sense when you consider the differences in the environment.
