I cried at the top of watching this - I too, as a black woman, have experienced racism throughout the process of purchasing a co-op apartment in Queens, NY (now the only black in a 219-unit building) as well as after I purchased the property in 2002. Twenty years after purchasing the property, I had to assuage / defend the false complaint of management of threatening her (which was an attempt to void my proprietary lease). My entire tenure as a shareholder (owner of this co-op) has been one of enduring racial bias (which has been documented). Everyone wants a nice place to live! I appreciate this family for being open to become aware! Albeit I work in the legal sector, make great money, own investment property none of this matters when based on the color of my skin!

I had something like this almost happen to me. I was a nanny of a little blond white girl. We had gone shopping, then as we were walking back to the car, she didn’t want to get back in her car seat. She was “screaming” actually laughing, but people around me started to get worried. Just then some people came out of the store we were just in. The commented on how they loved how this girl was attached and connected to me. They had witnessed how well we got along together, how if someone else got close to her - how she would cling to me. I was so thankful for these people who “saved” me by speaking out. They chatted with me as I put this little girl in her car seat.

In the past, I had a caucasian friend who had a little girl who I used to babysit. I remember being in Walmart with her and my own children, shopping as usual, no problems, she was about a year old. An older caucasian lady kept watching me, staying in the area I was in, and eventually got the nerve to come up to me with a fake smile, commenting on how cute she was as she sat happily in the shopping cart. The true reason she approached us soon showed itsel, laughing she asked me, is this your child? That was over 20 years ago. About 3 years ago it happened with my own blood grandson who is very light in his skintone. A caucasian, male bike rider, rolled up to us as we were taking a healthy walk in the morning around the neighborhood. We were just walking and talking, as this was our time to get out of the house for physical activity and fresh air. He was talking about the nice day, smiling and laughing, then found an opening to directly ask, my grandson who I was to him, then when he was satisfied with his inquiry, he cycled away saying God bless you. What a hypocrite. You would be surprised how many people think you are a maid, nanny or any other kind of service worker, when you are in contact with other races of people. Not only have I had to instruct black children on their actions, I have had to teach other races of children in my family, how to behave when with me, because I could be seen as a potential danger to them.

@UceScooter9 ай бұрын
Unfortunately it won't ever be that way. I believe people are like that basically due to the insecurities and acceptance of others and what they say and do especially family and even those from their own race. People rather avoid conflict so if they know being humane and friendly and friends with and especially romantic with another group of people that they don't accept to say the least, them it will be always a problem even if that person doesn't want that they will still appease the masses and majority. It's just like in grade school especially high school when you have different groups like the cool kids and the athletes or jocks and the nerds and the bad apples and trouble makers and bullies and all other groups. You don't see people befriending or dating someone in one of those groups and in up with another, like seeing a nerd around a popular pretty girl that most likely never happens no matter how a unrealistic TV show like the big bang theory makes it. In reality most people are accustomed to what's wrong and negative for some reason. I hate to express that and share this horrible aspect with you and anyone but that's reality and I'm still fully trying to accept it and learn to operate in it without being that way too. A big thing literally my entire life I could never get to understand why and hurt and made me sad was how Latinos particularly Mexicans mostly didn't want much to do with black people even though we live around each other more than any other groups around us and go to the same school and jobs. Yet, it's always been a negative divide between blacks and Mexicans at least where I'm from. I probably have had a crush or liked or loved at least 100 Mexican females in my entire life but probably only had 3 or 4 Mexican female friends and 2 Mexican female girlfriends how does that add up if people don't make race,skin color, prejudices, stereotypes and profiling a problem? I even tried to learn Mexican culture and language and traditions but no luck and it seem like alot of them clearly wanted to avoid. It's not like I was sagging my pants or looking like a thug or bad guy or lazy or anything that I could be stereotyped with. At the same time like you said that what matters should be how people are and treat others and do the right thing, the problem is if you even will get that chance amd opportunity because most times people automatically deny you the chance due to assumptions and prejudices that they don't know for sure to make themselves feel better or more comfortable and not think that other person could be the complete opposite. And it makes it worse when you really realize paying attention to how the world and people in general are nowadays with how more and more are selfish entitled prideful and vain and don't care at all about others unless they using amd taking advantage of others.
@toniek61629 ай бұрын
I am an African American and I used to live in Colorado years ago, and the Mexicans out there were discriminated against by the white race, maybe even more than the black race. My take on it was the Mexicans out there would avoid and separate themselves from black people, in an effort, to elevate themselves.. That was my take on it and it was and still is so sad, becauseno one should have to be made to feel like they are less than anyone else.

What I don't understand is there are clues if children are not happy or are scared or abused. I bet Corey and the kids were having a great time talking and laughing and happy but all that this woman saw was a black man with two white children, and in her mind it was just "OH NO!" More people who don't have the ability somehow, need to be taught how to read people by observation clues in just seconds. There would be a LOT less incidents like this!!

Kids get taken by people they know and trust all the time though. So you’re making assumptions that aren’t even true for every case.

The lady that called the police, probably no job, no life ro be wasting all that time trying to play the hero. When in fact, the victims were the true heros of the story💯Just nasty. Hopefully this opened her eyes to new way of thinking. Lets say a prayer for this woman🙏

This was in 2018, 2019 Biden was instilling fear into Americans. Election time. Go watch the Fall of Minneapolis. Polski Shumur and Kamala Harris and Biden wanted to win election bad. They do instill fear into anything they want.

This happened in 2018,2019. Biden instills fear into Americans. Biden will do anything for a vote. Just like student loans can't be done without a vote. If you watch the Fall of Minneapolis you may understand why polski and Kamala got citizens to burn town down. They should rebuild Minneapolis

We’re used to seeing Black women working as nannies. I’m Black from NY where it’s seen in areas where people can afford it.

This is interesting, because those children's Mom has coloured genes...This young man should not have had to go through this, but glad to see lots of positivity has come from it...Good luck on your journey!

Did this incident happen in Mississippi? If that’s true, I am not surprised. This state is where time STANDS STILL. I know this because I have lived there for 10 years during my teenage years (1971 to 1981).

So the woman who called the cops thinking she doing the right thing, scared the children and put all 3 individuals in danger. I hope she watching this. As a cop if I was processing this whole thing. I would look at this as awkward and embarrassing. This is awkward and embarrassing going thru this. I know you never know the situation and you doing your job but after seeing this thru. This is awkward and embarrassing. How old is that woman?! If she old she need to catch up with the times. If she young then, she with the wrong crowd. Why this woman acting interracial families don’t exist? She must be old, she not catching up with the times, interracial families do exist. WHAT WORLD SHE LIVE IN?!
