For people that may need more perspective on this dynamic: As someone who was in a similar situation as SB, albeit he wasn’t a cop, I never got pregnant, and obviously I’m still alive , when you’re groomed like that from such an impressionable age, you trick yourself (usually because of things they say) into believing the abuse is actually a relationship. My grooming started with I was 12/13. I TRULY believed I loved him. I believed I had a relationship with him and abstain from any dating in highschool or flirting with anyone else. When I was 18 I moved in with him, and I stayed until I was about to turn 23 (the same age she was.) yes I was desperate, yes I clung to him, because he was my whole world for 10 years, just like Sandra. I put up with a helluva lot because my mind could not comprehend life without him, even though I was miserably unhappy with him-I nearly died from an ED because of the way he made me feel. But that gave me a therapist that slowly helped me realize that he was not a good person in my life and I would be much healthier and happier without him. But the messed up thing? He wanted to “break up” with me a year later, & have me move out and I was hysterical-I remember balling myself up in his lap, sobbing until I couldn’t produce more tears and passed out. I hated him so much, but losing him felt even MORE overwhelming. It didn’t fully click until a year after i had those talks with my therapist, and a year after the hysterical sobbing incident. And when it did, I started to recognize all the massive red flags for what they were and got the hell out of there. He kinda knew about it, but didn’t have specifics. At the time, I had no idea that it was better to leave without them knowing, I had no car, no money, no home, nothing, I was in massive debt (though I didn’t know it at the time), I had to leave my cats that had been my only joy for years. My family was 900+ miles away. I literally put my life in the hands of some online friends that I had never met to get me close enough to my sister (she was at uni and it was a week or two before semester finals, & her & her husband shared a car as they lived in Philly, he worked a state away) for her to get me. I met my now-husband for the first time while in the same room with my groomer. It was a Monday. He drove 200 miles away. I slept in this stranger-irl’s house for an evening, on a couch. He later says I seemed drugged, withdrawn, exhausted. He then drove me further to meet the online-friend for the next leg. I slept on that man’s floor (he was a poor college student) on a make shift mattress until it was the weekend and my sister could use the car to drive those 4 hours to pick me up at the college students place. All of that unknown felt less scary and safer than the place I was in with him. I did not date my husband seriously until about 8 years later. We tried at one point before that, but I just wasn’t ready emotionally or mentally. We’ve been together for 10 years ow. I did some absolutely crazy, dangerous, and embarrassing things as I was passing those final 6 months before leaving my groomer, and the year or two following, We have talked it out a lot as some of it did involved him, and we have come to the conclusion that I was going through the usual rebellious period of high schoolers as a young adult. I didn’t get to do those things to figure out who I was and what I was comfortable with while I was with my groomer, and I was overcorrecting and catching up on lost time. Grooming that young really messes with your perception of things, stunts your growth, and can change your instinctively autonomic reactions . You can truly do believe you can’t live without them. She knew that man for half of his life, I get why.. she just didnt know any better. Farrell built her achetype of how acts in a "relationship", but she would never have the upper hand She was desperate because he was literally her EVERYTHING for nearly a decade.

@hunterlong1820 No. Look at police department recruiting videos (if you can find them). I was in the Army so I have seen how military culture has bled into American Police departments since the longest war in American history. This coupled with Obama's DOD program to grant police departments . military equipment and weaponry. Everything from highly sensitive Stingray systems to covertly surveil cell phones, to drones. The culture in police departments is more militant than the military in many departments. I'm not kidding. Because they use all of the dark humor from combat, WITH OUT THE COMBAT and the excuse of PTSD and coping with war for their behavior. I can retroactively see how racism was encouraged and dehumanization was subtly snuck into indoctrination. The police have adopted this, as an unwritten policy, except the war isn't a war and it doesn't end. The "Bottom of the barrel" is like everyone in society now. We are all having our incomes and wealth squeezed out of us, so I don't like that explanation. The police PURPOSEFULLY RECRUIT people who are wholeheartedly committed to THE INSTITUTION and the State. They don't want principles and laws to get in the way, should those principles and belief in laws ever become a problem. They like people who enjoy power over others. They like people who say all of the politically correct things, while doing something completely different. Those kinds of people don't need exceptional pay, they wanted the job because they like the feeling of walking into a gas station and having everyone pay attention to them. They can play whatever psychological games they want with anyone in public, and the public can largely do nothing. Luckily body cameras are exposing this to the public. But the CULTURE of policing is 100% of the problem. I knew what the Oath meant when I swore it, but that was not required with the military, and I know it's the same with police. What im saying is, the red flags are green to the state.
@Ryan_Rants3 ай бұрын
@@SubvertTheState 100% accurate. And you either belong in that culture to begin with, or you submit and conform. Otherwise you are blackballed. Either you don't last your whole career because you get out or are forced out. If you do make it, you are passed over for promotions and alienated. The grumpy old cop who keeps to himself and seemingly has no cop friends is portrayed as lazy, unmotivated, and not a good cop. While the apathy may be true, many in that situation are just burnt out. Yes they are short on calls and seem rude, but really they are burnt out. They didn't play the game because that wasn't who they were. But by the time they realized it, they were vested so they just try and coast to the finish line. Ironically, in many situations, these are the best and most trustworthy cops. Another idea I push back against is the whole "stress of the job" bs. You mentioned PTSD exposure to trauma obviously exists, but they use it to excuse poor behavior, aggression, hypersexual activity and affairs. The truth is, the type of people who want to be cops are adrenaline junkies. They get off on excitement and power. That is the motivating factor.

This case reflects an unpleasant truth: Partner violence is the No. 1 cause of death for pregnant women. Here, a man un-alived his pregnant girlfriend AND upended life for his pregnant wife.

"The women's mortality rate from any cause increased from 54 deaths per 100,000 live births in 2019 to 70 in 2020, the researchers found. Mortality rates increased 22% for pregnancy-related causes and 36% for nonpregnancy causes. Causes not related to pregnancy accounted for more than half of the women's deaths in 2020, the researchers say. Accidental drug poisoning was the most common, followed by motor vehicle collisions and homicide, with mortality rates of 12.2%, 5.9% and 5.5%, respectively. The mortality rate involving suicide did not significantly change. The study authors also identified significant racial and ethnic disparities. Mortality rates were three to five times higher among American Indian or Alaska Native women for every cause except suicide. Black women had similarly high mortality rates across all causes, with 5.3 times higher risk of dying from homicide." Sandra Birchmore was a victim 360° of life trauma. I would NEVER hold her responsible for allegedly manipulating, the predator who groomed her through deviant, pathological coercion from her primary, and fundamental psychological and physical developing years, age 13 to 23. In a web of both psychological and social dysfunction, she counter engaged in demands of the very man Matthew Farwell(such an apropos surname) who probably threatened her to secrecy of his deviant crimes on her when she was a minor; if true, then Sandra learned well the art of 'blackmail' & manipulation from her groomer, former OFFICER Farewell, and possibly other officers with authority of law & punishment they possibly wielded over and upon her life. He abused the fact Sandra was a child of trauma who lost both her mother and grandmother- no mention of her father present in either the Civil court papers filed by her aunt(who was her caregiver and guardian after her mother and grandmother passed), nor was a father mentioned in the press conference held by the FBI, Who are now charging former officer Matthew Farwell with her untimely demise, impossible other criminal charges coming against not only farewell, put maybe many other Officers directly involved in Sandra Birchmore's case. .

Anytime a pregnant woman commits suicide, is murdered or goes missing the majority of the time it is the baby’s father. So the lack of investigation by the department is troubling. I believe the call to the department letting him know he was dating Sandra was the week before her death. Everyone who knew had to have thought that a motive to kill. Did they DNA the baby then to determine paternity? The lack of investigation by the department is troubling. The content and notes from that phone call would be interesting, did the caller state the relationship started when Sandra was a minor? If they did the department should have done an IA Internal Affairs investigation which would have included them talking to Sandra. The entire department is suspect. The reason I don’t think she killed herself is because she would have text her friend who she confided in via text that he dumped her (his defense-he dumped her she was distraught and killed herself). Her MO was to vent to others. She had no chance with three officers sleeping with her for normal development. She was talking about the baby’s last name, clothes, holidays, and photo shoot at 2 months pregnant. What kind of work did she do to afford that apartment?

Just because the age of consent is 16 in Ma. doesn't mean people there are any more mature than anyplace else, it's just where the line is drawn legally. Since the age is lower there, consenting adults who are just of that age are likely to be immature, and certainly anyone under that age is much more likely.
