The driver, identified as Courtney Ridgeway, 28, of Smyrna, Tenn., failed to stop. Troopers pursued the fleeing vehicle, which reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour for approximately two miles on Bing’s Store Road. Ridgeway lost control of her vehicle on the gravel road and crashed into a ditch.

I think she killed her friend & her & the boyfriend stuck with their story that the friend that died was driving. But i could be wrong cause why would you let your friend drive with your boyfriend in the backseat the story seems fishy.

Something looks and sounds fishy. It's the girls car that survived, her bf in the back seat..... Why would the friend be driving in the first place with no license and why would she "run" in someone else's car? AND, why would the driver be ejected from the passenger side? She was found up from the troopers car. If she was flung out the drivers side she would have been anywhere on the left of our screen out to the drivers side. But the girl that survived crawled out the drivers side and so did the bf.

So I hope every young person has a chance to watch this video. This is a bad outcome for a number of reasons. Back in the Summer of 1982, a caused the death of a passenger in a vehicle that I was driving. It was her vehicle, given to her by her grandmother, but she didn’t have a license so I drove the car. We weren’t running from the police, but I was driving like an idiot when I lost control and hit a utility pole. Traci was ejected and killed immediately. Aside from busting my face on the windshield, I was okay. The guy in the back seat wasn’t injured at all. Since I was 18, I was charged with vehicular manslaughter but was only given probation. 42 years later I am still not over it. It bothers me daily thinking that I kept someone from living a full life. Traci was a beautiful girl and would have probably been something special but I f’d that up. You don’t want to go through that. No one wants to go through that. Nor do you want every background check to show that you have a vehicular manslaughter charge on your record.

About fifteen years ago my son and I were on our way back from Little Rock. About forty-five minutes East I saw an SUV cross from our side (Eastbound), through the ditch separating traffic into the Westbound side. I fully expected a head on but amazingly, the Westbound traffic stood on their brakes and the guy made it to the other side off the active lanes. At that point I expected he would stop. He didn't. Instead, he accellerated, crossed BACK onto our side of the road to the edge, went airborne for about 150 feet and landed in a pond upside down. I pulled off at the exit next to the pond. Miraculously, all four people inside got out. Dazed. But alive. I called 911 and they asked for a description of what happened. We did what we could for them but with two that had obvious signs of a concussion there's only so much. An ASP showed up. I attempted, briefly, to tell him what we had so far and he ignored me, looked at the only one who was still close to where we were (the other three were walking around, on the exit ramp, dazed) "everybody doing okay?" With that, we left them to the able assistance of the famous Arkansas State Patrol. I was told later by one of their FTOs that they're told at the Academy to stay in their lane. They don't do EMT stuff. EMTs don't do ASP stuff. I made a note of that and decided, if I ever found an ASP with a sucking chest wound or multiple PB injections, I'd nod to the past and ask "everybody doing okay?" but otherwise I won't do shit.

As a police officer it must be nice to work in a state where you can do your job, regardless of the outcome, and not have to worry that your department won't back you, the DA or judge will prosecute you, and that you will end up on trial when someone dies while doing something stupid.
@andrewhigdon8346
@andrewhigdon8346 5 ай бұрын
It’s the “do your job” part that gets sticky. Life and the law are not so black and white or crystal clear. The question here is, are the police the judge, the jury, and the executioner? OUR Constitution says no. That why we ALL have a right to due process, the process of defending your case against your accusers. Have you EVER been accused of doing something you did not do? Were you punished unjustly? The act of fleeing a cop is NOT a death warrant. The idea of “regardless of outcome” is also as small minded and in compassionate as anything when applied to this context. You are saying that if someone like a cop is simply “doing their job”, and the suspect dies as a result, the cop is innocent. What if your mother, daughter, whatever, was driving along breaking no laws, and suddenly a cop turns on the blue lights and tries to pull you over, but there was not a light, nor a person within sight? The law states that any driver is allowed to proceed, at a reasonable and below speed limit rate of speed, carefully and deliberately, to the nearest reasonably safe area to be investigated by the law enforcement officer. But, as has happened in the recent past, the cop decides that your loved one doesn’t deserve their own rights to a safe and secure interaction with a LEO. People react in unforeseen ways to extreme stress, and a blue light might be the number one stress inducing signal in western culture. Cop decides he won’t wait, and flips your loved one into a water filled ditch, and your loved one dies. And for what? Expired plates? So what was that about “do your job”? Was his job to give chase regardless of the circumstances? Absolutely not, and that’s a fact. The lack of concern for human life is becoming more and more prevalent these days. Who will stick up for you when such concerns save your life? Oh, no one? Cause they all died while you watched and assumed they all deserved that result, now no one is left to help you.

But being honest has also gotten some people killed by crooked cops, which are FAAAAAAAAR more prevalent out there than you think. A year ago I would have said the percentage of crooked cops was maybe 10-20%. After some recent eye opening experiences, I now put that number at 80-90%. And I’m very serious and quite certain. A good cop isnt a good cop when they don’t report crooked cops, and crooked cops exist in 99% of departments. Also, cops are gossip queens, the worst, and spend a massive amount of time concerned about how their coworkers are advancing in the department while they are not. If corruption exists, the only ones who don’t know are newbies and or at the bottom. And it DOES exist nationwide, big department or small. In fact, the smaller the department, the worse it is. Worse than that is that most of them do it so often that they forget that what they are doing is illegal, and yet others think they are legit because their coworkers tell them it’s legal, when it’s not. Besides, who is going to question a cop’s word? Well, EVERYONE SHOULD. Especially judges and district attorneys.

Rural areas are often long distances from any emergency services. They also rely on mostly or all volunteer emergency personnel. They each get paged, drive to the station to meet up, and then head to the scene. That is why you often see them wearing regular clothes. They (except firefighters) try to save on response time by going directly to the station. These amazing volunteers are your neighbors, teachers, mechanics, farmers, etc. They respond when called, leaving their regular jobs or any normal activities to aid the community. I have known them to leave their own daughter's wedding to respond. They deserve praise! They get minimal training sometimes, but without them, response times can be hours. I grew up in rural Arkansas, and it hasn't changed much since the 70s. Now my classmates' children & grandchildren are the volunteers!

AR and MO roads are notorious for roads that start paved and switch to maintained gravel or dirt with little warning. Driving fast ( over 35 or 40) on the unpaved sections is a recipe for disaster as this video proves. I wonder what the offense that they were being pursued for was, and was it serious enough to warrant a death? License plate check would have given police name and address of car owner they could have picked someone up later and everyone would have lived. If the car owner wasn’t the driver, as she said, she would rat out the others soon enough. She owned the car so is still partly liable for an offense. I can't figure out why the cop on the left is so rude and hateful. Young man was showing his hands as much as he could, but he also needed one for leverage to get out. And he is also checking on the next person trying to crawl out. No reason for cop on left to kick the boys arm up, he was moving it and then to jerk him up. I love and respect cops but this was uncalled for.

@@bigpapi88 No, don't worry about it. The cops are people like you and me, except they're protecting your and me. Sometimes we do wrong, we all do. But what he did was not so bad. However I do agree that we should always strive to be a better person.

What was the point of the officer jerking the guy around like a rag doll after just being in an accident. Then, the female comes out of the front seat and gets lightly put in handcuffs. What’s going on here? I get the cops adrenaline but come on.
