It had to have been pure anguish for that lady, ,and of course the dog. It's gnawing at my guts just thinking of that poor dog being chained up for at least a year (that we know of). That chain was so short. That's torture for a dog. No stimulation, next to no exercise, not well fed, total boredom and living in the elements constantly all alone. Dogs have been known to go crazy subjected to that. They are so social, thriving on packs and/or human contact. They can become deeply depressed and fearful spending that much time alone, or go feral. It would be like keeping a man in a cell for that long. That lady must have kept that poor dog sane.

@daniellethaxton6800
@daniellethaxton6800 4 жыл бұрын
Maybe she wasn’t neglected. Maybe the owner took good care of her and just left her outside when they went to work for the day. Or maybe the owner never played with the dog and never let in in the house. The video doesn’t let us know. The dog doesn’t look malnourished though, does it? Maybe it was malnourished before the woman started feeding it, but the video doesn’t let us know. Just because it didn’t have food in its bowl when she first found it doesn’t mean it wasn’t well fed. Maybe the owner fed it before they left for work and the dog had already eaten a whole bowl of food, and maybe the owner was planning to let the dog inside and feed it again when they got home. Maybe animal control said the owner had to surrender the dog for some sound, legal reason, but the video doesn’t let us know _what_ that reason is, and I am suspicious. If there are horror stories about CPS keeping kids for bad reasons, don’t you think animal control could make a bad call? Don’t you think that if you called animal control on a decent owner enough times, animal control might start to suspect that the decent owner is actually bad, and don’t you think that after a year the decent owner might just get so frustrated at having to deal with animal control that they would relinquish their dog so they don’t have to jump through hoops anymore to prove they’re not abusing it? Maybe that’s not what happened in this case. It would have been nice if the video explained why animal control allegedly said the owner has to surrender the dog. Now a bunch of people, including myself, suspect that the previous owner was actually not that bad, and this woman harassed them into giving up their dog. Again, maybe that’s not what happened, but so many people seem to be assuming that the dog was left outside 24/7 when we just don’t know whether that’s true or not. And from what we saw, it didn’t really look malnourished. And the woman even said it was the happiest dog she’d ever seen, which she might have attributed to it being excited to finally get attention after years of neglect, but maybe it was just a friendly dog that likes people and was bored while it’s owner was at work.

We learned from a similar experience, it helped some to explain to animal control that there is no one else putting food or water out for the dog. If they do a check and see the dog chained there with no source of food or water, and clearly suffering from it, then it is able to be confiscated legally. Although in our situation, the dog was chained in a snowstorm with no shelter but with food from concerned neighbors, and animal control said they could only confiscate once the dog dropped unconscious from cold... they seemed to bear no ill will that we rescued the dog from the property before that could happen. He lives a very good life now.

There are MANY dogs that are kept outside. It doesnt mean theyre abused. This dog had food, water and a dog house to sleep in out of the weather. Obviously someone lived there as a car and lawn chairs are in the background. Also a dog shelter is seen yet she says he had to sleep in a hole in the ground. SOOOOO misleading. This woman essentially harassed the owner into relinquishing their pet. Ummmm stalker much?

Wasn’t she healthy enough dog for three feeds a week? It’s just proves that the original owner was giving food to the dog and she was in great condition for a 24/7 outdoor chained dog. Dogs who are chained all the time tends to gets aggressive and plus she’s surely gotten akita genes in her which is already notoriously hot headed dog breed, so her being friendly shows that dog had been given great exposure with humans in her life. So well behaved dog + properly fed dog + kennel in background and well kept yard just showed that she was being taken care for. Yes owner should have taken dog back into his house but we weren’t there to see if they just didn’t do that. This video shows only one sided story and not the full story.

@@KMims747 @Joy chauhan The dog was left outside day and night. Just because it was being fed doesn't mean it was happy. You wouldn't like it if you were kept outside, chained to a tree in the snow, rain, and heat, would you? I don't care if she had a kennel, I would be sad to see an animal chained to a tree and left outside. Dogs are domestic animals, they would love warmth and comfort inside a home as opposed to a cold metal cage.

Some sort of sicko who will parade their "possession/property" to upset others; that's who. Hope whoever the former "owner" got time for animal cruelty. I had a neighbour with a black cocker spaniel who did the same. I contacted RSPCA to complain the neighbour was not feeding and neglecting the dog. I ever knocked on his door one day and asked if he wanted to sell the dog to me for a price and I'd take care of her. No! That beautiful dog was hit by a car and died one night (used to let the dog out at night to wander around the street) when I was out but my daughter told me what happened when I got home. I cried and was so angry, Needless to say I didn't acknowledge that "neighbour" again.

To everyone here saying it's OK to keep a dog chained alone outside "as long as it has food, water and shelter?" Please don't get a dog. The dog doesn't want an owner like you - and be honest, you don't really want a dog; you want an alarm system. Which is good news as it's cheaper. A few exceptions - some dogs guard sheep - but even they aren't chained outside; they roam freely and consider the sheep their family.

@@nathanadamson6324 yes if your dog is chained to a tree for 5 years, yes. WHAT an ignorant response to an abused dog situation.

It’s more like they can’t because it’s against law or policies. Which I agree is kinda stupid but I don’t think they can actually do anything if the dog has access to those things

@@ber1779 that is a lie. if you believe this you are seriously uneducated. if you doubt this i suggest you think back to your academic studies. if you succeeded then, and yet still believe this dross then you are sadly one of those people that blindly believes what cant speak.

Have you noticed how calm and determined rescuers always seem to be. Obstacles are jumped, action is taken and they stay that way. This lady was exactly the same. It's a special gift.
