He toughed it out for the rest of that year, then got a commission in the USAF. After he retired as a Major he went back to teaching and then administration in high school and college. It's actually common for both men and women who have suffered rape, molestation, sexual assault etc...to never report it or only gain courage and/or mental strength to come forward many years later. There is a statute of limitations so my guess is she knew it was coming up and knew he was going to get away with it if no one stepped forward. Now due to her death the only way he will face jail time is if other victims come forward.

"They investigated" The school or police? How does he not immediately get arrested and put on dismissal? They essentially gave the teacher permission to repeat his monstrosity. Such a lack of doing their job should be met with immediate dismissal.
