We’ve rescued or tried to rescue quite a few, the ones that made it flew fine so of course let them go when they were ready. A couple have been young hummingbirds, amazing resilience! Fierce hearted little guys! 🥰 🐦

@@SecretWars98 We also raise the little critters that cross our path. We raised a 1 day old hatchling who ended up being a female towhee. It was an amazing experience. She now lives in our neighbor’s yard. My moral obligation to help a life in need overrides man’s laws.

I love sparrows, I have several hundred who frequent my property and roost in my haybarn and horse's stables in the winter. I put extra food out every day so they can share with my chickens. At the moment they are busy building nests in the old apple tree outside my kitchen door. I always think of them like rather dull coloured canaries and every bit as charming and sociable.

Baby birds are so fragile, and even in the best conditions raised by their parents, only 65% make it. I'm a wildlife/bird carer, and I know just how hard it is to look after nestlings. Good on this lovely lady for saving Muffin. She's adorabirby 😍

@@bondgabebond4907I raised a nestling many years ago and learned as I went. They make a formula specifically for nestlings. It’s just like baby formula. It’s a powder that you add water to. When they are really tiny you make it very watery and liquid. As they grow older you use less and less water until it’s like an oatmeal. I used a baby medicine syringe (no needle) when the baby was tiny and the formula was watery. Then by the time I was making it like a thick oatmeal I started using a spoon so he could peck at it. Then eventually added mealworms on top to slowly introduce what he would eat in the wild. It was a very sweet experience and bond. A lot of work but totally worth it

@@inkedmomblu1510 : Thank you. I always wondered what people were feed the chicks. This helps. Luckily, I don't run into abandoned birds. One day a young falcon was in my backyard. It could fly about a foot off the ground, so it was mature. It was an adventure feeding it raw hamburger, bison and chicken. At night it disappeared, probably eating bugs or sleeping. Eventually it got enough energy to fly away. I got hundreds of photos and a few videos of her before she took flight. What was interesting was that there was a white falcon hanging around, so I figure it was mom watching over baby. Once the young falcon flew off, I never saw the white falcon again.

@Manvi Tiwari Yes it would be great if more people would rescue and care for birds. But more importantly for those who choose to do so. Should do a lot of research about what is needed. To be able to take care of them. It takes a lot of time, patience and care to help these birds survive. It's a lifetime of commitment to them. 🙂

What an adorable little House sparrow! Looks like a female too. If you find a baby sparrow, the best food to give them is chick starter (like from a feed store, for baby chickens…) and then mix the chick started with warm water and crush and stir into a soft paste like consistency. Not too dry, but not dripping wet. Then take tiny pieces and form them between your thumb and index fingers to make a little triangle that you can just feed into the baby’s mouth. When a little older, they can have seed, fruits, meal worms, insects, etc. I hope to is helps someone! Mine used to love ants and flies! lol But please don’t let her get lost outside bc falcons hunt smaller birds in cities. Also, I’m so glad you had a Good veterinarian. Because usually if you have a native wild bird, the laws are to either release it, give it up to a licensed rehabeer, or euthanize. The rules like this in the USA are ridiculous and definitely do NOT help wildlife! So just be very careful about who knows you have a bird like that. I’m so glad you found that little baby and helped save her and give her a wonderful life. ❤

This is very precious information. I'm a bird lover and if I found an ABANDONED or injured chick I would follow your advice. Living in Canada we have to deal with hosts of illogical rules maybe well meant but conceived by stupidest of stupid that means bureaucrats so I'm sure that they'd rather have the bird killed than living with people. Muffin is adorable, and you’ve taken such good care of her. I am wondering about her feet - her toes look like they might be slightly curved. Depending on the reason, your vet can make her little “shoes“ out of cardboard and medical tape that will help straighten out her toes. In any case congratulations on raising her. She seems very happy and healthy.

​@@manvitiwari8852 could that be nutritional though. I have seen birds when they don't eat enough fresh foods and insects get like that. Alot of the pre-made food is like junk. Nothing is like fresh organic produce and real insects etc. Thank you for being a good human!

Hey in India we make fresh food everyday & packaged food is not preferred so don’t worry she’s getting fresh food every day & we did introduce her to fresh insects but she isn’t fond of them. Don’t worry she’s healthy & happy! 🐥🧿

Thank you very much for this beautiful video! The process is called "imprinting". Since you rescued Muffin at this early stage, She thinks you are Mother. Basically, that's sometimes how all rescued creatures bond. When they're born, the mom's presence (even if another species) is imprinted in them. I want a Muffin too!🥰

that is so sweet of you-I also found a bird once and did not even know what it was since it must have fallen out of its nest and had no feathers. At first I thought it was a reptile of some sort then realized it was a tiny bird. I also left it near the tree hoping the mother would come get it but after I returned in a couple hours the poor thing was just squeeking so I brought it inside and made a soft little bed and started to feed it. The little bird grew and I grew to love it. I cannot explain the love I felt for this tiny little creature. Then one day it started to fly and I knew it was time to say goodby. I loved that little bird so much I felt lucky to have had this privilege of being a foster parent until it got back on its own feet, or I should say wings. The day it flew up into the trees I was very sad but then happy that it found its way back into nature. Thank you for sharing your story. 🐣🐦🍀❤❤❤❤❤

I love birds, given that my budgies were my initiation to caring for pets -- I'm now a happy mom of dogs, who also fulfills my life with pure unconditional love, just like my beloved budgies. Rest in Peace my babies...❤❤❤ Mavin is an amazing mom to Muffin for giving Muffin a choice to either be set free or to remain home with her. Mavin is truly blessed that Muffin decided to stay with her. Because I'm sure that just the thought of releasing Muffin couldn't have been easy on Mavin for making a very difficult & selfless sacrifice to do what's best for Muffin.❤❤❤

As long as I can remember I’ve been fascinated by birds. When I was born my grandpa said he’d seen chickens bigger than me. I was always tiny, tall but thin. I ate like a bird etc etc etc. I married a man who is allergic to dogs and cats. While he was at sea, I was lonely and wanted a pet. It was the first time I was able to get a pet bird. I did a lot of research and one day I stumbled upon a little green conure with a red head and white ring around his eye. He was imported, open banded and went thru required 6 months quarantine in California when it was still legal. I fell for him even though he was terrified of people. I’d never tamed a bird before but I sought expert help and managed to hand tame him in 6 months. I lived with Flapper 34 years, he just passed away last Memorial Day 💔 He’d always been afraid of me touching him anywhere but his back, he’d let me gently stroke his back and bring him up close to my face and he’d stroke his cheek against mine. That was it until his favorite friend my other parrot a Severe macaw died in 2017, aged 27. I slowly started trying to touch his chest feathers, his head and then eventually he REALLY enjoyed his wings being rubbed. Most nights you would find him sitting on my shoulder in my chair, then walking down my arm to my elbow where he would duck his head down asking me to pet him. Once he relaxed a bit he would go into zen mode; eyes closed and putty in my hands. Those hands he used to be so afraid of he ultimately found great comfort and love, learning to trust me. He died in my hands too, when he needed me even more to make him comfortable snd then he was hanging on for days and really could only move his head to preen his breast. I hand fed him water drops and fresh squeezed juice from drops of my finger. He ate only his favorite treats pine nuts. I had to hire a mobile vet to come help me with the aid of knowing his weight so she could calculate the right dose of a narcotic birds are sensitive to. He took the dose from my one hand while I held him and whispered softly telling him it was ok to let go. Within seconds he was gone. 💔 RIP Flapper, I miss you birdie dude

Your baby bird is just adorable!!! I have had the blessing of taking care of a few baby birds. It is a lot of work, but it's SO rewarding to see them develop into adults. Having a little bird flying around in ones home is like having a baby angel in the home, but one must constantly be vigilant for possible dangers everywhere. The same vigilance applies when they are on the floor. They also must be taught how to find their food in the wild before releasing them.
