Woman Says She Fought Man Who Attacked Her in Elevator

A woman says when she was attacked in an elevator, she fought back. The woman, whose name is not being shared publicly, spoke with KCBS TV in California. She says when she got on an elevator at a storage facility in June, a man followed her and once the door closed, he pushed her up against the wall of the elevator and ripped off her sports bra. Police have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with the incident. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more.

The fact he was running away from her at the end was satisfying to watch, I’m glad they were able too identify and arrest him. She defended herself by and judging from the fact he was running away from her after exiting the elevator he knew he was losing the fight. I hope she gets some counseling cause even though she was able to fight him off it’s still a traumatizing situation.

Although she was able to fight him off, this doesn’t mean that this wasn’t a very traumatic situation for her. She will probably have PTSD from this experience, especially when it comes to being alone in an elevator. I pray that she is able to attend therapy, especially with a therapist that specializes in PTSD. I also pray that she knows, deep down, that this wasn’t her fault and that she did NOTHING to cause this, and that she was a victim of a deranged lunatic. She didn’t deserve this at all - no one does. She should have been able to get on an elevator, and safely go about her day. I’m sending lots of love, peace, and healing her way! 💕

I actually had a situation like this. I hopped in a elevator. I was in the middle and then the guy attacked the girl on the other side of me. But i realized what was going on, I was able to subdue him. He had a knife on him and so did I. Could have been very bloody for us all.

The victim did brilliantly--she survived, which is the whole point. It is a good idea, though, when you buy a new brand of pepper spray to buy at least two units in order to use one up in practice. Practice taking the safety lock off until you can do it with your eyes closed. Go outside to a place that people and pets don't frequent and check how far and how strongly that unit sprays. Learn to check the wind direction and how to direct the spray--the last thing you want to do is spray yourself in the face (it has happened way more often than most people realise). I want to emphasise, though, that the victim in this case was great--good on her for successfully fighting back!

I went to a storage facility alone a few months ago and this is exactly what I was worried about. I never go empty handed. It’s really scary because you go underground and lights only turn on by motion. When I was followed and attacked in a regular elevator I hit a loser’s arms away from me and that’s when I learned you have to put up a fight. The police confirmed to me a lot of attackers get scared when you fight back and that’s what probably made him leave in my case. If you notice, the monster in this video runs away from her.
