Amy is such an advocate for rescuing & educating people about the cruelty of abandoning geese & ducks . I have learned so much from her IG account. She always has rescued waterfowl in her home & helps them heal so they can then go to loving homes with nutritious food, clean water & predator proof housing. She's a hero to these abandoned domestic birds. ❤️

What a great story! It’s sad but true that geese are often seen merely as aggressive fowl. The footage of Beatrice guarding her mate and of Cous Cous taking on fatherly duties made my heart melt. I’m so glad human veterinary care has been used to help save Cous Cous!

I hate that people see geese as monsters when they are literally just protecting their homes or their family
@ascent84872 жыл бұрын
They can be a bit aggressive but I love animals too much to hold their natural behavior agains them. I happen to love geese. When I was living in Maine there was a pond near me with geese and ducks. The geese got so used to being fed (not supposed to do that) that they stopped migrating for the winter. Yes, that really happened. So neighborhood people who were able, adopted them for the winters and them brought them back when the whether began to warm. This really happened. A sweet memory from my time there.
@vickiegray6902 жыл бұрын
@@ascent8487 Thank you for sharing your personal experience. I’m sure being exposed to that earlier in your life made you the caring person you are today. I’ve always wanted to live in Maine myself. You just have to stop 🛑 and think why the goose is acting out. 9 times out of 10 you’re in their space and they just want you to back off. If I find that someone I meet loves animals I’ll want to learn more about them. People that love animals are usually good people.
@ascent84872 жыл бұрын
It love animals. It wasn’t that early a time. I was there from 23 to 26. I’m 40 now. One of two of the happiest periods of my life. If you really want to live there, I pray life somehow leads you there. I don’t know what weather you’re used to. I moved there in January from Los Angeles, California and I loved every windshield scraping, digging my car out of snow, skin burning in a blizzard moment of my first winter there. But if you’re not used to such conditions, be prepared. If you are, possibly be prepared for quite times. If you’re used to that, you’ll do fine. It’s so beautiful. Early spring is the only time that’s a little mucky but I loved even that. Every other time is divine. I love it there. I will always love it there and I will always love that pond with spoiled geese 🥰. A lot of happy memories.

@@acorvidae thank you for your reply. The good thing is, he has a dedicated momma to watch over them, until they make it to the farm, unless he's already out there. If he's not, maybe after wintering in a heated barn, he can spend springtime in the sunshine 🤗 I'm wondering if an oxygenated incubator may help him, unless you've already tried that. Thank you for caring for them! Cuscus sounds just like my Gooseberry (I call it his content coo) I know how much I love my Gooseberry (Pilgrim goose) geese are very smart and emotional! They can get very depressed. Gooseberry LOVES me as mama and he loves his flock of 12 baby ducks he has raised and they are grown and he still Shepard them around and cares for them! But when he hears and sees me he comes running, the bond we have is so unbreakable. I got him at 7 days old and I kept him with me indoors 24/7 so imprinted on me. I wouldn't trade our relationship for anything.

I raised 3 geese. 2 ducks as well. The male goose, Dandy, was awesome. We would go into the yard and sit on one of the tires out there, and he would come up to us, just talking. I did really like them a lot. That was at least 15 years ago. We only have chickens now. Giant white rooster are so funny. One will take food out of my hands, and drop it for the females. The other is actually scared of me. I picked him up once and brought him out of his run to show to a friend and that was it. He's like, "Nope! Ain't picking me up again. Uh, uh!!!"
