This was freaking amazing to me. I would never think of birds of that nature to be sweethearts. The part where you said they put the nuts out in the street, wait for the cars to run over said nuts, and next red light they scoop em up!! That’s incredible. It’s like seagulls with clams. But this particular talent is mind blowing to me. I’ve been rescuing animals for close to 30 years. I had to stop three years ago due to health issues and living situation. There’s a big void in my heart because of this as it was my privilege to be part of it. God bless you all and animals you rescue.❤️🙏🏼🎉💪🏼😎

Corvids are very intelligent. I remember seeing a story about them stealing the catches of ice fishers. The ice fisherman will use a stick that's wider then the hole in the ice with a line attached. The corvids will pull the string, use a foot to hold the string down and then grab the string by that foot to reel it in. Repeat until the line is pulled and they can steal the fish.

@@jaclynpavlica69 Yes search 'Russian crow sledding' --he repeatedly uses a jar lid as a sled! To me that's even more amazing than the nut thing, because there's no incentive other than pure fun. It's one of my favorite concepts in ethology, the term for it is a German word, 'funktionslust' which means exactly what it sounds like, the thrill and love of doing what you do well, purely for that feeling (so horses running around for no reason, birds doing sky acrobatics for no reason, etc). It's remarkable because any action that isn't directly for survival is (technically) a waste of precious calories. But I believe that the more intelligent an animal is, the less life is even worth living if it isn't joyful sometimes, and so it's worth the 'waste.' With members of the very sophisticated family Corvidae, funktionslust includes problem-solving AND physical thrills, so a crow using a manmade object to turn a snowy roof into an amusement park ride is both those things, and I'm just so glad the Russian family in the neighboring building noticed and captured it on video.

Me and my sis raise one sweet raven too,when he grew up we decided to let him go.He was in one our building and his parents always were close,so when we let him go they come and left together.We were sad but also happy cuz he can live his life free ❤️♥️❤️God bless all animals and all good people 🙏❤️

In Vienna, Austria, the hooded crows most definitely do that trick, using cars to crack nuts. You can sometimes see it at the Intercontinental Hotel which is beside their stomping ground in Statdpark. They also drop the nuts from heights.

Poe is so awesome! Here in Alaska, our ravens are huge and very playful. Extremely intelligent birds that make seven distinct different sounds in the wild. They have been known to mimic and tease pets sometimes! In summer and winter they will occasionally get on my roof! I just love them! It is so nice that Poe is well cared for!❤️
