Same! I remember when we adopted our new kitten, his name was a gen zish name so it’s hard to type but I’ll just use his old name, Finn. We had to get him neutered or home would be full of cat pee, he’s very playful and loved hiding, and we had to distance him from our elder cats, Simba and Cookie since they aren’t great with newer cats. Since we’ve gotten a lot of them that we had to give away over the years, Finn was also very underweight he was the runt of the litter, you could feel his bones. We joked he was a alien, also we found out why he was so skinny. His litter mates knew he was annoying so they trapped him! And he is very (but in a cute way sometimes) He doesn’t know how to pee so he’ll just lay inside the litter box and spread it all over the carpets, he playfully attacks are SIX YEAR OLD CATS who are too tired to play anymore (besides string) Even though when he first got introduced to our cats, Cookie, the only female, ran away from him and proceeded to hide and swat him if he comes near. So our male, Simba (he’s also litter mates with Cookie) stepped up to be his mother, we call him *Mama Tiomb* Since he’d always groom him, and when Finn tried to fight him, he’d do the dominant cat thingy, since, I do remember when Finn tried to do it to Cookie. We’ve considered getting rid of him but we love him, it’s great to have his energy around the house, and I’m one of his favourites. He gives me his toys to throw back, puts his favourite toy in my bed, and once I woke up to him in my arms *It was so adorable I loved every moment of it*

Exactly the same amount of cat, dog and human babies for me too. I've had animals all my life mostly cats, but also birds, hamsters, goldfish, tortoises, you name it and my kids were, and like me, still are mad about animals. But we all are more cat people, I'm in my seventies now living alone except for MY fur baby who I couldn't live without, she's my precious little girl. I think Kit's mum will now always have a cat in her life too.

I'm proof of that. I got my boyfriend 2 kittens, because he wanted them (from a woman in a supemarket parking lot, no less) I was not really thrilled, but he wanted them and we had the space. We didn't know it, but one was male and one female. They had awesome babies. The happiest moments of my life were with these kitties. There was even a grandbaby from this family. She passed away in December 2019. This little sweetie was all mine. the light of my life. And I hated cats ;-)

I was never really a big cat person until my husband surprised me one day with this little feisty kitten that needed a home. She was found on a soccer field in the rain all alone and needed help. This is one of my favorite cat videos . I never get tired of watching it. Even though Jodie was not a cat perso she was still kind and compassionate enough to take in a helpless, defenseless kitten,temporarily. Watching her become a cat person and falling inl love with “the kitten / the kit / Kit” and end up keeping her was truly heartwarming . If and when Jodie ever decides to have a human child then chances are she will be a wonderful mother. But it will be somewhat tougher and more difficult and complex than raising Kit. Yet I’m quite sure tha Jodie will be a super great mother.

We hand-raised raised an abandoned litter of 3 two and a half week old kittens..it was like having babies, 2 hourly feeds around the clock, weighing them before and after each feed to make sure that they had taken in enough milk, helping them poop and pee, but we are cat people, so once they reached 9 weeks, my daughter’s and I kept one each..I have a gorgeous grey boy who has just turned two. In Australia tho, if you take such tiny, labour intensive babies to a vet or shelter they are likely to be put down, so hand-raising them to between 9-12 weeks, when they would normally be able to be separated from their mother and rehoused is the only option if you don’t want the kitties to be put down. A shelter or vet will take them from 9 weeks on.

The tipping point must have been the look from those amazing eyes of Kit"s. This is an example of the power of a kitten. I also have a first hand example. I taught secondary school for many years, including 30 years in the same school in a small rural town (teaching the kids of kids you taught year after year is another story). I had a stray that I had had for a few years that I accidentally ran over on my way to work one morning. I only mentioned it to a few colleagues and not my students but the word got out. At the end of lunch time one day (this is about 25 years ago) two girls came to the staff room with a kitten that the groundsman had found under one of the buildings (he adopted the other kitten he found) then they quickly left. So, I am about to go to the last two lessons of the day with this tiny ginger bundle who I put in an empty photocopy paper box. In both lessons, the students asked what was in the box and I told them it wasn't their concern and they needed to concentrate on their work. However, these were teenagers, so they genetically can't mind their own business and they kept pestering. Eventually, after about 20 minutes I told them. The overwhelming response from both groups was "You're lying. You don't have a kitten. Prove it." After berating them for questioning my honesty, I realised the blackmail opportunities and said they would get to see the kitten in the last five minutes of the lesson if they stopped being nosy and got some work done. Thanks to one cute kitten (redundant description, as there is no other kind of kitten than a cute one), the last five minutes of those two lessons were the best behaved those 14 and 15 year olds were for that whole school year. The kitten, who I named "Charley Farley" (after the character in some of "The Two Ronnies" skits), hadn't finished making an impact however. At the end of the school day, when I let him out of the box in the staff room, he ran under the fridge and it took five of us to get him out. Later, at about 2am that night he escaped from the spare room I put him in, got into my bedroom, crawled up the side of the bed, got under the covers and bit my big toe. All true. As is the mesmerizing power of kittens.

I was never a cat person. My Bruno changed that. He was one of the greatest loves of my life. Unfortunately, he got let out over night while I was out of town. And we never found him. I cried for weeks. Sadly. I still cry 5 years later. I loved him more than I've ever loved any animal in the world. I just hope that wherever he is. He's healthy and happy

My little calico died a few months ago and the boy cat and I are still grieving but I tell myself that I gave her a good life, and she brought me so much joy. My cat lived with my mom's when I was away for school, and he was a street cat from the go, so he liked the great outdoors, so my mom let him wander around. No fault of hers, but on one of his trips he ate something bad, and got real sick real fast. I was at mom's for the weekend, and he was just sick. Saw life slipping out of him. I have never cried and will never cry as hard as I did the night when he collapsed in his litterbox and I was laying on the kitchen floor trying to console him, until mom took him to my grandpa's farm to end the pain. This was like 16 years ago, and just thinking about it will never not bring me to tears. That fucking cat was my lifeblood. Rest in peace, Niilo. One of these days I'll get over it and adopt another stray, and give 'em the best fucking life they could ever have, and that'll be in your honor.

I love this and fully appreciate how you feel. My cat was the baby I never had - she just turned up at my door - and filled my life with so much joy. that's true though- so like here's the story: once I and my sister REALLY wanted a kitten, so we went with our dad (yes, only dad because our mother despised having another animal which at the time we had about 5 but anyway) to this fair kind of thing. We got this Lil gray kitten and named It Barbie (it's a girl). When we arrived home our mom didn't even want to look at it and said to get it out of the house. So we played with the cat on the trampoline for like 3 hours. A couple months later and my mom loves her, except for when she ruins some furniture like scratching, tipping over thins, and many others.

My mom doesn't want a cat but I wanted one and when I saw my cat outside the house and it was began to rain and my cat just hid under a box thing and few days she was still there and my mom led it outside the front yard and my cat would just follow my mom and I said "mom can we keep her" she said no and until it was there for like 3 days or so and we decided to keep her now she is with us for 5 months now but my mom won't let me pet her cuz of her long fur but I really love my cat so much. And I don't care what others think about my cat as long as I am with her.
