I think the tall thing comes from women progressing during their dating years. For example if a woman dated a guy who was 5’9, the chances of her next boyfriend being taller than 5’9 are high. Furthermore, it can be shown that your “preference” is really nothing more than a reflection of your lack of self-esteem. I am late 30s, have been to 60 countries lived in 4, played sports all my life in both high school and college, lot of experience around large number of men and many naked men. As for protecting, the two toughest guys I personally know are 5'9 and 5'10. As for the other thing, the two biggest guys I know are 5'6 and 5'9. I'm 6'0 so don't really have a dog in either race. If anything there is a mildly inverse relationship between height and d size, since testosterone is what caps mens' heights. As for protection, most guys over 6'2 tend to be more awkward and can't generate the power of guys from say 5'8 to 6'2 range. Tall men are also more collapsible and often easier to bring down than men with a lower center of gravity. Women may be oblivious to this, but men aren't. It's true that short men say under 5'7 can lack range, but can often make up for it with power and speed, and 95% of fights go to the ground within seconds anyway. Fighting isn't boxing. The optimal male height all things considered - health, work ability, protective ability, etc. - is probably around 5'10, which not coincidentally is very close the average male height of around 5'9.5".

@@bens808 Shortness sucks big time. Even in grade school I remember I was passed over for the taller boys. Anyway life gets worse passed age 50 you begin to lose inches as the cushion between your vertebrae begins to flatten out. By age 70 we could lose 3 inches.

So total doing both lifts and bottom shoe work I can get 2 inches to almost 3 inches. I don't do any of this and it is all stares and comments not kidding.

I’m 5”9.25 and I’ve never been called short by a girl unless I told her my height from online dating and never met her yet. When I put on my lifts with some good shoes or boots I’m easily at 6ft. Height is an illusion, play the game and display confidence. I’m rotating 5 girls a week on average as a single man rn. Get on your A game bro you’re not short you’re slightly below average.

The thing to consider is that the insecurities of "too tall" (for women) are similiar to "too short" for men, thus common ground. I hated and loathed being tall when i was young at 6.0'. I felt as though i stuck out like a sore thumb. My late husband was 2 inches shorter than me. He nudged his friend in the ribs and said, as they walked up to my sister and me 'The big ens mine.' He proposed 2 weeks later! He didnt give a jot about my being taller than him. Our marriage lasted for over 40 years. As an adult now i love being tall.
