Sadly, Americans live inside a media bubble with no idea of the real world outside their borders. Just to put things in perspective: Only the 3 European Union countries with the most gold medals combined at Paris 2024 (France, the Netherlands, and Italy) have won more gold medals (43) than the US (40), despite together having about a third of the American population. On the other hand, the European Union, which only has 25% more population than the US, won 242% more gold medals than the US and 245% (you're reading well, you don't need glasses) more total medals than the American team. How's that for domination?

Europe Union is not a country, it's a Union of several countries each one of them taken in itself. The final classification counts each one distinctly, not grouped.

@@KALAAHARY-to9lu that's not the point. The fact is that the US lags behind Europe as a Sporting nation. The Netherlands has 20 times less population than the US and only won 2.5 times less gold medals than the US. The per capita supremacy of most European countries individually when compared to the US is even more astounding.
