Older guy here. There seems to be this misunderstanding that men back in the so called good old days provided and protected. Yes, they did; however they only did that for wives. They weren't doing that for side chicks or even girlfriends. And remember too that women back then largely lived at home until they got married. So they were under the provisioning and protection of their fathers, and then later their husbands. Women who lived on their own were on their own.

My Grandma had a business and was very successful. She made more money than Granps and he had a good job. Women are of all types and so are men, in the end those bragging to know so much about women are pretty pathetic, it maybe that they probably only know about one or two type of people
