Full highlights as Tirunesh Dibaba defends her 10,000m title in an impressive time of 30.20.75 during the London 2012 Olympic Games on 3 August 2012.
Since 1896, athletics has been on the programme of each edition of the Games of the Olympiad. Its presence on the Games programme has allowed its popularity to increase across the world. This popularity was also strengthened by the creation of the IAAF in 1912. Women's events appeared for the first time at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, while the men's programme was standardised as of the 1932 Games in Los Angeles. Although at the beginning women were authorised to participate in only some events, today their programme is almost identical to that of the men.

The most amazing part is how relaxed and in control she is. You can see the other racers looking tired, breathing hard, and exerting lots of energy, but Dibaba just looks like she's out for a light jog

Dibaba kick is 2nd to none, but watching the race as a whole Kidane is what set it up. when Kidane took it on the knocked out everybody slowly, but Dibaba. Vibian also has an excellent kick but on that night Turnesh was not going to be denied

Notice the other two women from Ethiopia set it up for Dibaba. First Ojuria then Kidane who put on that killer pace to eliminate all but three other runners including Ojuria. Dibaba took the race at the end. The Kenyans started off the fast pace, but Kidane made it brutal near the end.
