But let's be real - the reason it's hard to find clothes bigger than size 24 or whatever it was is not because big mean companies want to send a message. It's simple business. There is very little demand compared to the ones before it for that size because on average people aren't that size and bigger. You'll also see in a lot of stores that it's hard to find 0 or 00 because again, not a ton of people are that small. Does that mean the company is trying to say you don't exist? No. They just aren't going to make a lot of, or in some cases any of, a size that won't be purchased.

i totally get that one girl that has a condition though. i guess it’s really not something something she can control
@GoldenCharioteer6 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's necessarily a matter of 'letting yourself' get there, but for some of us it's definitely a deciding factor. Sometimes it's just an unhealthy obsession with food, poverty, or lack of family support. The thing about the girl with the condition is that lipoedema is a very rare disease and what that means (as she explained) is that fat concentrates in different places in your body. Not all women with lipoedema have obesity, though, because redistribution of fat is not the same as the creation of it, which means she ate too much and her body decided where to place it. Unfortunately for her, she has few treatment options, the only one which reduces fat being liposuction. Again, I think it's both society and themselves (sometimes, even their genes) who have failed these women. It's important to be a healthy (not beautiful) weight not for others but for yourself.

I'm pretty sure the reason why a lot of stores do not carry size 24 and up is because not a lot of people are that big? If those sizes sold well, they would sell them in stores. That's how business works.
@rubythompson76566 жыл бұрын
Å L yeah people should focus on being healthy, but weight loss shouldn't be the ultimate goal all the time. Also, losing weight takes a lot of time and commitment. A person can't just shrink 5 sizes in a day, nor should they feel the need to.

@WolfJulia20016 жыл бұрын
Ruby Thømpsøn yeah but if you're one of the biggest sizes that you can't ever find anything that fits you then do NOT come for the business. It's a personal issue. Unless you have a medical condition that CAUSED it you have no place to complain. Weight loss takes a looonnggg time and it's nobody's fault for how much you weigh except your parents if you're a child.

She has Lipidemia, I have Hyperlipidemia. Honestly thats a condition that doesn't only make you gain weight, I wish tht was the only consequence, but no, it most importantly make you get fat in your blood stream which basically kills you. So girl, I dont know about the others, but you shouldnt let yourself get to that high weight. Its dangerous. I know its a fight but your health worth it, more than fitting into some jeans.
@karolinealvik51166 жыл бұрын
Hyperlipedemia is not the same as lipoedema, they just sound the same. Hyperlipidemia is as you know, a blood-lipid/cholesterol problem, while lipoedema is a fat storage/connective tissue defect. As far as I know, lipoedema doesn't affect blood lipid levels. It is similar to edema, as in the connective tissue surrounding the fat cells makes it harder for the body to utilize the fat stored in the fat cells, making it harder to slim down the fat reserves in hips and thighs, giving people(mostly women) an extreme pear shape. In extreme cases they also get problems with the lymph flow giving regular edema in addition.

My mother has PCOS and is extremely obese (Over 220 LBS at 5'5"). She also eats burgers almost every day and doesn't care about eating healthy the same way I do. She was at 140 up until recent years when stopped caring about her weight. Point being, she was overweight but healthy when she still cared. She was obese and not healthy when she didn't. Obesity is a choice 99.9% of the time. Being Overweight is more likely to be caused by medical conditions than being obese is, but you can still drop the weight. It's unfair to say that Obesity isn't a choice, because people have put in effort to stay healthy with medical conditions that make them gain weight.

I feel like a lot of folks here in the comments are missing the point of this video. It's encouraging women of all sizes to be more confident in themselves and their bodies, while pointing out their disparaging lack of clothing options. Glamour isn't trying to say that obesity isn't a problem. People who are fat know that they are at a greater risk for health issues, they're given much unsolicited health advice regularly (and it's often nothing new to them). Just like how some people can eat whatever they want and never gain a pound, others can observe a strict diet and exercise regime and never lose weight. Glamour is only trying to garner the respect that people of ALL shapes and sizes deserve.
@thegrandmasabrina6 жыл бұрын
The comment makers don't want women to be comfortable in their skins. They want the women to conform to the standards that the fashion and fitness industry have come up with. For whatever reason, they want to fat shame and judge women so they can feel superior to someone else.

You do know that there's no absolute standard for women's clothes right? Clothe size actually gets smaller with different companies because size is a thing that is highly marketable and feeding into their insecurities about what size they are is how they actually make a lot of their money. This is why I don't complain when a girl takes like an hour to find their clothes that fit at a store. When they're a size 14 at one store they maybe a 16 at another, so often they waste time denying they've gained weight but actually they haven't. Simply put, fashion stores are very mean to girls and their insecurities. So rather than applying a number in the title, just say skinny, medium, L and XL...

women are put under pressure if theyre “too big” and women are put under pressure if theyre “too small”. it doesnt make sense and it shouldnt be happening.

Why it shouldn't happen? Is it not good to be a normal size? It doesn't make sense at all for me.
@lilyt52686 жыл бұрын
I mean I think people should be proportionate to their body type and height, being too big or too small in a lot of situations is actually unhealthy
@haleysullivan81736 жыл бұрын
TheMelopeus no its perfectly fine to be any size, im saying that society tells women that there’s something wrong with a woman no matter what size she is. i would be the last person to judge someone for their size. and Lily Tran as long as the person is happy, and making the right choices, then they are ok. and sometimes, like one woman in the video, their size isnt their fault.

Haley Sullivan OK but the fact is there is an obesity epidemic in the US and using these feel good exceptions to make the quarter or more of the adult population who are disgustingly overweight feel good isn’t the best plan.
@haleysullivan81736 жыл бұрын
you shouldnt be calling them “disgustingly overweight”. they are not disgusting. and you know whats ruining their mental health? not their weight, but you guys criticizing them. you guys saying its not ok to be bigger than other people. thats whats doing the damage here

I’m a size 8 but I’m way smaller than the girl who was size 8 just shows how the tag can be wrong I mean I’m 110 lbs and I’m a size EIGHT (not trying to say oh I’m so skinny) just pointing out to women and young girls who feel fat that numbers aren’t accurate I mean I personally don’t think I’m heavy I mean I know I’m old navy I’m a 4 some places an 8 and the highest ever was 12! Every store is different, hope I helped 💘💘

Nikki Nicole same but it’s based on body type I think she’s a endomorph. Ectomorph that are size 8 can appear slimmer Bc they have smaller body structure.

Nikki Nicole everybody carries their weight differently. You may be 110 lbs and a size 8 while I’m 135 pounds and a size 6. It really depends on where most of your weight is carried, along with your height.

Quick fashion tip for all my female friends out there. *Your choice in clothes should always be based on how much they flatter your body and how comfortable you're in them. They should always be at least one of the two* Don't just wear clothes because they're trendy or fashionable, that's how you end up with an uncomfortable pair of jeans that makes your legs look like the lower half of the michelin mascot. Nobody wants that for themselves right?

Marley Glynn girl I was the same size when I was 13, I've maintained the same size all these years. I'm almost 17 and still size 10-12. As long as you maintain your weight, or even lose weight if you choose, then you really have nothing to worry about. I think size 12 is a beautiful size. It's a lot more common than you would think. So don't sweat over your jean size, or any size for that matter

"The larger you are in size, the less worthy you are...". Shops don't generally make above a size 24 because most people aren't above that size. They're making clothes for the masses, not for the few - it has nothing to do with your worth in society or the fashion world. Shops just like to take the easy route.

I am an old seamstress lady and for you young ladies may I suggest a couple of tricks I use. 1. Take the time to find that great pair of jeans that fit properly, if you need alterations remember it can be cut down but not added too. Fit to the largest part of your body. And yes most of us can not buy off the rack. A great pair of jeans that fit perfectly are a wardrobe staple just do it. 2. When you find the jeans you like take at least 3 pairs to try on the size you think you wear and a pair one size smzller and one size larger (if you aren't sure take 5 pair with two sizes up and down) now dont look at the tags honestly assess which pair fits best. Trust me squeezing into that size 10 when you wear a 12 dont fool no one and no one cares what the number is.

I was a size 18-20. Lost weight and got down to a 12-14. I still feel huge. Looking at videos like this actually affect my mindset because the comments are so negative. I lost over 80 pounds. Yet, I still feel huge because of the stigma on the double digits or just not being a size 4. or a 0. I am pretty confident in myself, but I still feel awful about myself when I read comments like those that are left on these videos. I am much healthier, happier, and feel better about myself. But I still feel like I'm not good enough or pretty enough or small enough based on these type of comments. Stop.

People need to stop thinking about their size and focus on what looks and feels good. Never let the little tag inside clothes dictate your worth. There is no jurisdiction or universal sizing chart (in the u.s) so don’t ever let that bother you
