I've taken numerous "barre fitness" classes and has an actual ballet dancer of 15 years... it's almost offensive that they suggest it incorporates ballet. I've been scolded in these classes for using PROPER ballet technique. It's a great workout, but i hate that just because they stick a barre in the room they think they can so boldly call it a ballet workout.

Maia Moon as a dancer myself, I understand what you mean, but I think it has to do with the same muscles and using the Barre as opposed to the actual technique

Lo and behold. It’s because it’s not ballet. It’s barre. It’s ballet inspired. But ballet range of motion is simply wrong for this sort of class lol
@Holunderfaerie6 жыл бұрын
prachi pratyusha you do know that Barre is used to do technique in a Ballet class and to Work Out. Ballet isnt Just the Dance in the Center
@prachipratyusha34636 жыл бұрын
Antonia I agree and I love everything about the dance form and how much ballerinas train and workout to achieve the mobility and agility that the posses. But I am just saying that barre:the workout in a workout studio is not the same as barre:the support to practice ballet technique and workout. While both are challenging and rigorous, the former is meant to be a workout for non dancers while the second is for ballerinas and ballerinas in training

I have ballet fitness 3 times a week. I know you may think I am crazy but I love ballet and I am tired of people thinking ballet is stupid and effortless. Simple rule in ballet, if it doesn't hurt somewhere in your body then u are probably doing something wrong. This is why I like buzzfeed so much, they show things you might not otherwise know.

I hate that they put the word "ballet" in it they r actin for like it's just like it just because it has so called "elements" of ballet there's a bar so it's ballet there r elements of ballet in contemporary or lyrical dance they don't have the word ballet put in it. They put the word ballet so people think that they r "ballerinas" as a dancer I was knows that actual ballet is much more difficult and painful we go through classes and rehersals worse then that many times a day everyday nobody knows how difficult it is until they actually danced to me it's insulting as a dancer
@bomoore51705 жыл бұрын
They never said they were ballerinas. No one said that they were trying to be ballerinas. They were saying that they were just trying to do some ballet fitness to try to understand the day in a life of a ballerina. Now stfu

After doing dance for 12-13 years, my dance studio makes all Dancers to do the ballet workout at least once a month plus their workout for the specific dance style so they can gain/tone/slim for the specific body shape. With contemporary/free dance I need to do a combination of all of them. I gain muscle but need to be toned and slim the body shape. I actually shock people when I flex and they see significant muscle. It's quite hard but pays off to keep me fit. The dancers I work with all don't consume much meat or a vegetarians like me. Having an injury is terrible as we don't get to do as much strenuous activity and have to stand back. BUT THE MALES. Dance guys are so fit and strong and since I'm a shorter person, they all tease me by picking me up and adding more lifts to the choreography. LONG STORY SHORT DANCE IS HARD.

I do this type of workout at a different place and you're supposed to wear at least a tank top and knee length pants, but they are all wearing just a sport bra. The added clothing is actually a huge deal because it makes it so much easier because it keeps your muscles so much warmer. i do this all the time at my studio and i can assure you this is PAINFUL! it's basically a pilates class meets ballet barre. the tiny little movements force you to concentrate so hard and gain a mind-muscle connection with every movement. it helps to develop those small muscles that help dancers move without causing injuries. highly recommend! i
