About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

I absolutely loved her message and her astounding achievements. I just wish she had more personality on stage to invoke more emotion into the viewers. Sparking emotions in the viewers to the message leaves a greater impact on them. :)

Her message is indeed great. Standing with cross legs is not a powerful way. Having your feet together, slightly apart (below your shoulders), makes you as a speaker more connected to your surroundings, gives you more opportunities to underline your words in different ways. Gives you more opportunities to express your energy

I can see from some of the comments that you don't understand what she is talking about. Her conversation is very relevant if you care about womens rights. She is talking about the overwhelming influence of men in all areas of life even the 5 men sworn in for the committee on contraception. I kinda think women have a say in something like that also. The world is very imbalanced in the area of the male/female leadership and/or influence. Look how long it took for the Black vote to become relevant. Not signed until 1965. Set to expire (like it was an afterthought) in 2007. And then extended for another 25 years. Why do we Americans (who happen to be Black) have to have our right to vote given to us by a piece of paper when the piece of paper called the birth certificate says we were born in this country like every other American with the same rights. I already know the answer, just venting.......

You are proving the point she's making. Because of a patriarchal society, women are seen before they are heard. No one ever listens to a bald white man give a speech and say "wow, his unattractiveness is really distracting".

I agree with a fairer world, but i think it sounds like an abstract idea.A fairer world is only found in the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Kingdom of GOD. I will prefer directing people to live according to the will of GOD and the message of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Regarding political power: As more than 50% of the population are women, they easily could outvote men on the political level. But it seems that also women vote for men and not for women. So at least this is their own fault. Speaking of western countries of course and not of countries where women don't have any rights at all.
@diannalovesfood

Lots of women don't get to the level where they run for offices. So we can't vote for some thing that's not there...
@svenlima
@svenlima 8 жыл бұрын
diannalovesfood In most countries everybody has the right to subscribe for a political position. Usually people start on low levels like a village or a small town. Not men's fault if women don't do it.
@diannalovesfood

There are biases and discriminatory practices that compound on top of each other that makes women and other minorities have a few more obstacles than their counterparts. I'm not saying it only men's fault but they don't usually try and help the issues either. We are seeing a change though but we can agree to disagree. Have a good day :)

it's called petty when women do it because they usually do it based on petty reasons eg physical appearance, clothes, boyfriends, etc. Men usually compete for political power, money or success, which are more useful things in society.
@whisper2284
@whisper2284 5 жыл бұрын
@Imade...A girl raised by a narcissistic and unloving mother or a father who left her family to be with another one grows up to hate other women. Every female is the enemy and men are absolved of responsibility. Your definition of petty demonstrates a misunderstanding of how definitions work. In Oxford dictionary a definition applies as stated irrespective of gender. Petty is defined as “of little importance; trivial.” So both men and women can be petty. Your definition of the word Petty demonstrates bias against your own gender. We must work diligently at removing this self hatred in our girls and society. My sincere hope is that you realize how your behavior hinders your ability to heal, grow and to be whole.

everytime i hear talk about men women thing or about women right the question i keep asking myself is does this people only see the happenings at the top and never see the happens at the bottom, there are hundreds and thousands of men going through hell in the hands of women especially in europe people don't talk about them yet the keep talking and insisting that women should take over the positions of authority, if they do where would the men occupy, who will take care of the kids and worst of all they no longer have respect for whom so ever no wonder the rate of single mother are growing so fast everyday we should look at the other side of the coin the effect of women pursuing place of authority and so on...

I wonder why you travel from Nigeria all the way to Germany to speak about something as petty as this. Of all you have achieved at your young age, is this discussion even relevant? I guess it says a lot about Tedx for giving you the platform to run Nigeria down. Please watch people like Mallence Bart-Williams who talk about real issues.

+Bamnan Maclean Thank you very much. She opens her mouth to say bad things about the society that ha produced her and given her the opportunities to be a female entrepreneur. Perhaps she can move to Saudi Arabia where she will not be allowed to drive or the United States where most black women are Sheparded into prisons or drug addiction. She is just trying to position herself in the light of the western Feminist. I am afraid that wont take her far in liberated Yoruba land where women are already allowed by culture to become all things and have full rights of inheritance just like their male counterparts.
