As a child, I related most to Daniel Tiger . He was shy and would often hide his face when meeting new people, that’s how I was . Now that I’m older I’m getting better about making eye contact, but when I was a child I felt a deep connection with Daniel Tiger .

I'm guess in certain situations you still have Daniel Tiger in you? It's okay to have that. Being shy can be a defense mechanism in a way, keeping your guard up until you get to really know that person. Even DT when he knew he could trust you, didn't hide his face anymore. One of the sweetest and most realistic relationships he had was with Lady Aberlin. I always liked the interactions she had with him because I felt that she could get him to open up the most

Yeah I loved Daniel and I'm now 50 years old with a long white beard and still a metal head listening to Slayer and such....and Daniel always touches my heart because I was a "Daniel" the shy tiger. Loved this cat. : )

its because he isnt with us anymore :( he has become almost mythological, the only difference is that we know he was real. there will never be another Fred Rogers... the legendary level of kindness and compassion doesnt exist anymore

I think Daniel was always my favorite and the relationship that Lady Aberlin had with Daniel Striped Tiger was very important to me because I had a very strong but unconscious need as a child to be understood by adults, to have them listen to my feelings without laughing at me. And that was the relationship that the two of them always had day or night

I remember as a kid for some reason I liked Daniel the most out of all the puppets. My sister isn’t much of a talker, but as soon as she started picking up dolls, then stuffed animals, she’d built her own complex language. Hearing that Mr. Rogers did the same and found relief in being able to express his inner self through a unique medium reminds me strongly of her. Fred Rogers was bullied throughout his youth, and had virtually no friends until the middle of high school. Daniel Tiger represents that sad, shy boy with no friend.

This is something that can reflect me, because I didn't know that the world was bigger than me. I feel that Daniel is a symbol of children that was born in a world that was so big they didn't realize that they were so small as Daniel was. Daniel Striped Tiger was my very first crush. He was so adorable and I loved him so much, I felt like we were definitely soulmates. The thing is, I still kinda feel the same way 30 years later, and this part of the doc makes my anxiety-riddled, emo heart feel like it’s gonna burst.

When I would watch Mister Rogers and there would be a knock at the door, I usually knew who it was because 95% of the time it would be Mr McFeely so while Mister Rogers went to the window to see who it was I would be yelling from the couch, "IT'S MR McFEELY!!" but of course Mister Rogers was making sure who it was to let kids know they have to be extra careful and not just open the door to anyone.

When Fred started at WQED in the early fifties, the head of the station was Dorothy Daniel, and she gave him a tiger puppet a few nights before they went on the air, so he named the tiger Daniel in her honor.
