No, it's a good question. It's because the wind is created by the Dreamstone, which was created by the Greek god Dolos, the God of Lies. Just as Superman has no defence against kryptonite and magic, Wonder Woman also has no defence against the powers of the Greek gods. (or at least that's how it was in the original comics)

That wind is not even a deliberate conjuration. It's a tiny side-effect of how enormously powerful Max had become at that point. He granted wishes to hundreds of millions across the world and took their health and life force. That's monstrous. Max became so powerful, he didn't even think of fighting Diana. She couldn't do anything to stop him.

Pedro was the only thing I didn't like in the movie. He was awkward, terrible and just not Max. I was worried when he was cast since he was bland AF on The Baby Yoda Show, and those fears were realized. Thank God for Gadot, Wiig and Patty's direction.
