That was only done after Superman had died or was gone from an alternate time line. Batman will never tap Lois Lane at all as she has standards, morals and integrity. I am happy the story here ended badly. Because they was Kingdom Come and The New 52 series of Kal-El - Superman and Diana Prince-Wonder Woman together. And in Kingdom Come Diana and Kal did get married and have many children together. So Diana DOES in fact prefer Kal.

Two things, 1) New 52 made Superman and Wonder Woman an official canonical thing, that creates precedent for Batman and Wonder Woman to potentially. 2) This comic was basically Wonder Woman's subconscious "I can fix him" fantasy.

I mean I guess it just depends on how you view it but there aren’t many versions of them having a romantic relationship and the most popular one is JLU which most certainly doesn’t limit her to just being his girl in that show. In fact it’s him who doesn’t offer her anything other than I guess his good looks. Even in this story, you can see that it’s Bruce who takes a backseat and becomes a better man because of her. Honestly I’d have to write a whole essay to really break it down but all I’m saying is the ship isn’t all that bad if handled extremely well but I do agree that I prefer the sibling dynamic. It’s just a lot of us fans are upset about them teasing us in JLU and never really getting to see it happen.

Honestly, I'm actually glad that Batman and Wonder Woman don't have romantic feelings for each other in the main comics as of right now. The DC Trinity has always had a bond that is greater than that of warriors shedding blood together on the battlefield or friends who have stayed in touch over decades through thick and thin. In some ways, the three of them understand each other more than even their families or closest friends do, which is why they care so much for one another and show understanding where others would not. Seeing the three of them be best friends and being there for each other over the years, like how Clark and Bruce were there for Diana when Steve Trevor died, or when Diana hugged a grieving Bruce in the Fortress of Solitude after he was in denial regarding the Death of Superman. Its these types of moments that show why their friendship works so well and why a romantic interest between any two of them just doesn't feel right.
