The thing about Diana not being able to return may not imply she is banished from the island but a theory suggests that once she leaves, the location of the island is lost to her. She posses no artifact that would enable her to trace the route to the island. Steve & the soldiers just happened to stumble upon by chance & probably may be the only humans amazons faced.

Great reaction guys, this is one of the best superhero movies ever. FYI most of the amazons are physically equivalent to Marvel super-soldiers which is to say stronger, faster, tougher and more agile than humans could ever be- but not invulnerable, bullets are deadly to them too. But while the typical amazon is like Captain America/Black Panther level, Diana is more like Thor level... although she didn't know it. In the comics, Diana's origin has been retconned several times. She's been both a natural child of Zeus and clay brought to life by Zeus at different times.
@QuisletEsq2 жыл бұрын
Originally Hippolyta sculpted Diana under the direction of Athena goddess of wisdom. Aphrodite brings it to life. Hermès and Hercules gift Diana with speed and strength. Also the original comic book had a super strong metal they called Amazonium.

Actually, in her first two major variations (1941 amd 1986, respectively, she was formed from clay and brought to life by either Aphrodite (1940's), or a collective of Aphroditem Hestia, Athena, Artemis, Demeter and Hermes (1980's); the Zeus-based origins didn't happen until 2011. (I have my own...less-than-positive...view on the more recent version of her birth, but that's for another time).

I agree that Gal Gadot is the perfect cast for Wonder Woman. She doesn't just have experience in the Miss Universe pageant, but she served in the Israeli Army. Her training helps to make the fighting scenes more believable. You can see when she in her fighting scenes that she knows how to deflect an attack or throw a punch, even though she has enough stunt personnel and CGI, you can see in her moves she knows what she is doing. Fun fact regarding CGI, they had to CGI her flat abdomen, because she was pregnant.

The character of Steve Trevor, or Steve Trevor's character is often misunderstood. He's a mythic archetype just like Diana is. He's the dying and returning King. Zack Snyder did work on this but as a story writer and producer, he won an award for it. Him and Patty Jenkins had a good relationship during this process to the point where she made it known she doesn't see the theatrical version of Justice League as canon but Zack Snyder s Justice League. In the comics during the New 52, Wonder Woman was made a demi-goddess. The clay origin was her original origin and I liked how they honored that too. It's good you're watching ZSJL next and not the theatrical version as Aquaman is a direct continuation with that version (with one exception). Wonder Woman does kill too, a bit more than Batman and Superman as she's a soldier. An important aspect of Diana's powers is they are divinely derived, thus morality & magic vary their levels greatly. While she has often been overcome when morally conflicted or confused, she seems to get stronger when against stronger foes esp those with divine or magic powers. Most importantly, when actually defending the innocent, there are essentially no limits to her power, speed or endurance. She has actually lassoed a planet in such dire circumstances. While her powers have been dialed back since the 1970s, she can outfight Superman tactically and outthink Batman specifically when defending under an oath to protect. And this has never been explicit in the backstory, but it's been consistent for her whole history as a character.

This movie is a perfect example of how to be able to write a fantastic female. I know you kept eluding to it about "No man's land," but she herself never does, and it is this small detail that changes the entire audience view of WW. The writers could have easily said "Well I ain't no man," like in lord of the rings. But she didn't she said, "No, It's what I am going to do," and in those few words, it shows she isn't going to do it because she is a women she is going to do it because this is what any human being with her powers would do. And that's what make people admire WW even more.

I loved this movie in the theatres. After Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, all following DC movies became dark, grim, and 'realistic' with even Superman no longer being a bright blue boy scout. This story may be in the Synder verse, but I feel this movie was incredible because of the vision of its female director Patty Jenkins who, in collaboration with Geoff Johns, reworked the script and brought colour and heart back into the picture. The best scene of the film, Diana's march into No Man's Land was her idea. "I think that in superhero movies, they fight other people. They fight villains," Jenkins explained. "So when I started to really hunker in on the significance of No Man's Land, there were a couple people who were deeply confused, wondering, like, 'Well, what is she going to do? How many bullets can she fight?' And I kept saying, 'It's not about that. This is a different scene than that. This is a scene about her becoming Wonder Woman."
@jynxce2 жыл бұрын
Nice revision, but Geoff Johns had nothing to do with the 1st WW movie. Credit goes to Allan Heinberg from a story by himself, Zack Snyder and Jason Fuchs. Patty Jenkings was brought on board as only the director to bring their vision and screenplay to the screen. It was because Snyder was a part of the creative team that kept Snyder's vision of WW consistent from BvS to WW. If you want to see what Patty Jenkins and Johns vision of the character was, then look no further than the lesser WW1984 movie and how inconsistent Diana was portrayed.

No man's land scene is not patty ideas. Seriously you didn't know she were brought in at last minutes by WB after Katherine Bigelow left DC because WB refuse to do dark tone movie. That scenes already exist before she came, it's make by Snyder screenplay for his own WW1864 movie

Lovely reaction! Stopping about 15 minutes in with some details: The Amazons were a nation of warrior women described by the Ancient Greeks, and they would have been located around that very general area of Europe that the Greeks knew; not in the Amazon. The Amazon territory in the Americas was named by a European explorer who saw women fighting in one of the tribes he encountered in that area. There's been some examination about the Ancient Greek Amazons, and there's some possibility that the stories were loosely based on an actual society. In Greek mythology, you can meet the Amazon Hippolyta in the myths about Heracles (Hercules) and the Amazon Penthisilea makes a brief appearance in one of the sections of the history of The Trojan War. The story takes place during WWI, not II. However, the creator of Wonder Woman, William Moulton Marston, did put her in WWII timeline, which would have coordinated with his own. Marston created the lie detector, and clearly invested that item into Wonder Woman's lasso. Fun fact: Diana is the name of the Roman goddess of the moon. Strictly speaking, the Amazons were too far away in both time and place to know about that name, but it's a very pretty one, and suits Diana herself.

Wonder Woman has a few stories in the comics when she first showed up she was a gift from zeus to her mother by putting life into a clay figure she had created and thus she was 'born' as it were but then in the latest stories it is like they have it here in the movie where she's the daughter of Zeus and a demi-godess because of that. I love this movie so much and Gal as always does an amazing job as her. Gal has become one of Israel's biggest actresess and we are very proud of her here. She was born and raised here in Israel. I love the ammount of humor mixed with action and some mytholagy as well this movie has. It's written and directed by a woman and most of the action the Amazons do is the actresess doing it because the director wanted it to look as real as possible so they went through training and a boot camp of sorts to teach them how to do the skills they would need for this movie. All the actors do an amazing job here and were casted very well because no one expects David to be playing Ares so that reviel was a shock the way it should be,to me at least when seeing it in the theaters.

Another amazing fact: Gal Gadot was pregnant for most of this shoot and they green-screened out her belly. If you ever get to Kansas City I strongly recommend a visit to the WW1 memorial. It is amazing. Much love and keep on keepin on Justin.

Mark 20:32. Besides gender, what's one major difference between, Chris Pine & Gal Gadot? She's a military veteran and he isn't! As an, Israeli, she had compulsory military service. (Doctor Ruth Westheimer, was a sniper!) Quote: At age 18, she was crowned Miss Israel 2004. She then served in the Israel Defense Forces for two years as a combat fitness instructor, whereafter she began studying at IDC Herzliya while building her modeling and acting careers. Born: Gal Gadot; 30 April 1985 (age 37); Petah Tikva, Israel Service/branch: Israel Defense Forces Major competition(s): Miss Israel 2004; (Winner); Miss Universe 2004; (Unplaced) Allegiance: State of Israel End quote.

Mark 14:16. It used to be, "Paradise Island", even in Lynda Carter's time. But, "DC", didn't trademark it as a brand. Or if they ever did, they sold it? Because a cruise ship company bought a private island, and they named it, "Paradise Island", and they registered that name so others couldn't use it. So, "DC", went Greek and named their fictional island, with that name you heard them use. When, Gal Gadot, was a guest on, "Saturday Night Live", they did a skit about how the, "Amazons", should not be mistaken for the, Lesbians of Lesbos Isle. (A real place.) When the creator of, "Wonder Woman", created her and her race, he ignored the fact that, "Amazon", is Greek, or Ancient Greek anyway, for "breastless", by making his gals very buxom or busty! Thanks to jiggly, Lynda Carter, that misperception persists, so people equate, "Amazon", with the opposite of what it means. At least until the on-line bookstore came into being. But there is a group of women with mastectomy scars that named their group, "Amazons", because they know the translation. Patty Jenkins, she directed this movie and the sequel to it. In the comics, it was Lady Athena, that gave the clay form the, "Breathe of Life", in one version. "DC", published a 12-issue maxi-series, titled "War of the Gods". Because of, Ragnarok, their Asgardians got a one-shot special, that put them and the original, "JSA", into a time loop, that repeats itself. They acknowledged them thusly, to avoid issues with, "Thor", from their rivals. The series looked like a spin-off to the, "Crisis On Infinite Earths". The war explained that in the, "DC Multiverse", the Roman Pantheon, is seperate from the, Greek Pantheon. Captain Marvel, before he became known as, "SHAZAM!", Aqua-Man, and Wonder Woman, were very affected by it. 🤓

G'day it's Steven from Down Under again Love your reaction guys, you're so genuine and real. Wonder Woman has always been my favourite female "superhero", not only is she beautiful on the outside but the inside too, love a strong female character too, the connection to ancient Greek mythology just gives this character more credibility. Guys, please don't waste your time reacting to the theatrical release of Justice League, seriously consider watching the 2021 release, that is the complete version of the directors true vision.

So, about how the fighting just seems to stop directly after Ares dies: at this particular location I think it has a lot less to do with his death and more with Diana just sweeping through and tossing everyone around. I'd imagine that might give people some perspective.

Mark 51:56. Unless it is just a coincidence, it occurs to me now, that maybe they learned a lesson from, Sarah Michelle Gellar, back when she was, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". When cellphones were new and people that got them when they were still novelty items, and there was that lack of experience, about what to do with them, when not in use. Remember those times? 🤔 SMG, almost had a wardrobe malfunction, that wouldn't have been shown on broadcast television. Have you seen people tuck a pistol into the waistband of their pants and barely keep it there? 🤔 She did that with a cellphone once, but it slipped down into her panties! We could see it before her shirt was pulled back down into place. It made her walk funny! 😁 Because the weight was pulling them down! Well, there are bloopers of weapons that weren't concealed very well, that also caused problems. So my guess is, that to avoid such issues with, Gal, they reinforced that blue dress somehow. They also made the sword look like a fancy back brace or something, that wasn't whalebone or ivory. 🤓🤔

can is ability. may is permission. so when Queen Hypolita says "you may never return", she's saying Diana will never have permission to return.
@shadowcat10172 жыл бұрын
People aren't so precise in their word choices for you to be able to state that so categorically. Words can also have different shades of meaning. The way you're defining "may" is true, but it can also be used to express doubt, as in "you might never return." Hippolyta *may* (expressing doubt, not permission) have meant it the way you say, but it's open to interpretation. I don't believe she was telling her daughter she could never come home if she left, but instead that she was expressing doubt that Diana would ever come home again.
@boboboy81892 жыл бұрын
She's can return because of illusion. Not because she can't go back. In comic she still go back

@shadow cat1017 a) I know how to use words in 4 different languages. Can is ability, may is permission. They teach this in elementary schools. B) it fits as I stated. She won't be able to return until given permission to do so, which we see in the Snyder Cut when Queen says "Return to me, Diana."

Mark 1:07:35. "Like, Thor!" How ironic! ⚡. Lord Ares, stole or usurped, his family's Powers as he killed them. Now she is inherenting her father's Powers, as they get activated by Ares' using them against her. It is like tossing, Aqua-Man, into water, or Superman, into yellow sunlight. 🤓
