As a kid I lived in the middle of nowhere in Iowa and was always the first picked up in the morning by the bus and the last dropped off. One morning in January I was in fourth grade and it was still dark about 630 am I watched a white ball fly across the cornfield in front of me, stop on a dime zoom back the other way almost faster than my eyes could follow them stopped in the middle of this huge 800 acre corn field dropped down slowly to the ground and shot straight up in the air and disappeared. I was so scared I went back in the house and said I was sick and my Dad made me go back outside and wait for the bus. It took me thirty years to tell anyone that story because I didn't want people thinking I was crazy, it happened though, I don't know why but it did and I'm glad I got to see it because not many get to see unexplained things like that.

These two without knowing hit on some actual alien lore, getting people who are all over the place together like this is the best kind of think tank to solve strange problems, they'll find the deepest spot in the couch cushions to get the crumbs of the unknown, I love how at the end Duncan describes "Childhoods End" and probably has never heard of it, he'd love that story. Also as a side note, supposedly aliens do stink, one explanation I've heard is they process body waste through the skin, there's a famous case in Brazil where a guy died from some infection he got by grabbing an alien and getting an oily substance on his skin that smelled of sulfur, which could circle back to the demons hypothesis, sulfur and brimstone, maybe they are both Demons and Angels, these things would literally be alien to us either way, how strange.
