I know what I'm making on the lathe and mill in my down time this week. Great video.

"done their research..." I put two nuts on a short bolt.., threaded it into the auger.., locked the nuts.., put a deep-well socket on it with a drill bit attachment... And you're up and running...

This is a few yrs old, how is the drill and mill working out.

That was bad ass! Much better than one with a dedicated motor because cheaper AND you have a great drill!

Isn't it necessary to change the auger? I believe it is.

It is.

Does the flour get very warm? So you are using to metal grinder?

Where are you getting power for the Rigid drill? A 20 volt 1/2" cordless drill that can be recharged from solar or wind. Going too fast with that drill will destroy the food quality by overheating and wear out the stones and machine much faster. For mine, I will build a stand that will hold the drill and use the speed control lock to set a low speed. In addition grinding those peanuts you need to put pressure on the peanuts from above.

You have to motorize the mill!! Ny hand it would’ve been impossible! Thanks for the review.

Very good I like the idea of it for grinding up flour and grains although I think I’d still prefer to make my peanut butter in the food processor, I can add my vanilla extract and cinnamon to it

if there is a bold holding the handle on, why not just chuck the appropriate size hex adapter to the drill?
@shawnncheriyoung35974 жыл бұрын
That's what I did... Short bolt and two nuts (two at least for locking) Put the nuts on the bolt, thread bolt into auger, tighten nuts, add appropriate socket, socket adapter for drill...

@@shawnncheriyoung3597 What's the auger shaft diameter? Could you put a standard pulley on it, or did they make it a non-standard size intentionally?
@shawnncheriyoung35974 жыл бұрын
@@daviddewsnap5211 they beveled the shaft, and made it three-sided, intentionally,.. (I am assuming, to make it easier to buy their attachments than it is to make one of your own)...it would be easier to buy the pulley from them than it would be to find one and or modify it to fit...depending on your resources and ingenuity... My brother-in-law found one of the drill attachments in the street. Because of the tri-tapered design, he thought it was an anti theft lug-nut socket... My wife and I happen to be visiting just after he had found it...he showed it to me and asked me about it... I told him that it looked like the Wonder-mill Jr attachment; I went on to tell him how I had wanted one but couldn't afford it... He hands it to me and says, "well, you have one now"... so I have one now...

Great info. Planning on getting one of these myself. Hopefully it works with my cordless Dewalt drill.

If it's a 9 amp drill you'll be good. I found that anything lower doesn't have enough torque to run the mill at low speed.
@n.s.72232 жыл бұрын
Which drill do you have? Ours began smelling and smoking
@IdahoDualSport2 жыл бұрын
The brand shouldn't matter. It just needs to be at least a 9 amp drill so it has enough power otherwise it will struggle.

Milwaukee Hole Hawg. OR you could use a Variac Transformer on any drill to turn down to any speed

For 30.00 or 35.00, it is not worth my time to try to fashion some part to make a work around. That to me does not seem unreasonably expensive. I used my mill this past week for the fist time and milled to half gallon jars; 1 of hard winter wheat for bread, 1 or soft wheat for pastry flour. Having done that and having issues with both shoulder, I wouldn’t want to do it again. Therefore I plan to buy the pulley set and control swith for $100. I will get a used motor as that is the most expensive part. I thought about using the drill attachment however, running the plates too fast will damage them and in my opinion the plates are too expensive to replace (about 90.00) to save a little time. However if I could not afford the pulleys and switch, and had the proper drill, the speed of which could be controlled, that would be another story. And BTW I was surprised that anyone would consider connecting a hammer drill to the grain mill. I think this is not a good idea. It likely would exert undue forces not only to the auger and stones, but to the casing. It would eventually manifest somewhere in the mill; likely the casing which is cast aluminum. And probably it would damage the stones as well.

Your 3/8 in Chuck on your Milwaukee drill could easily be converted by the use of a half inch Jacobs chuck with a 3/8 in drive shaft. But not from harbor freight.
