Yet more complex international borders in this sequel.
In this video I look at even more enclaves and exclaves: the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Then I move onto the Uzbekistan-Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan border. Then I look at the exclaves of Germany within Belgium, the disputed border between India, Pakistan, and China.
Croatia has complex border with 2 of its neighbours - Serbia and Slovenia.
I finish by looking at the minor border irregularity between Sweden and Finland.

***** If you check the video on 7.30, you will see that according to the internationally accepted maps, Liberland should be under Serbia. However, since none of the countries are claiming it, the residents decided to declare independence.
@sammy_malaki
@sammy_malaki 9 жыл бұрын
***** Liberland is de facto part of Serbia but Serbia has not claimed it. Claiming it would mean that they (Serbia) support the original boarder line that followed the previous path of the Danube river. Claiming independence and international recorgnition are two very different things. Lets wait and see how this plays out. WonderWhy
@Hugh.Manatee
@Hugh.Manatee 9 жыл бұрын
***** It's not really a question of the residents claiming independence. It had no residents. Some Czech guy decided he wanted to start a new libertarian state in this unclaimed piece of land, and did so... by claiming it on facebook? Well, there was a flag raised, but as far as I'm aware, a month later there's still no one actually living there.
@AitheinOfQuartz
@AitheinOfQuartz 9 жыл бұрын
***** Under the Croatian interpretation of the Danube River border, Liberland belongs to Serbia. Under the Serbian interpretation of the Danube River border, Liberland belongs to Croatia. So both are saying "Not mine!" Additionally, Croatia has been enforcing the border into Liberland, meaning it does not claim the lands between the Liberland border and the Danube river. It is adhering to its claim. Serbia has also recognized Liberland as not conflicting with its own territorial claims along the Danube.

There is one interesting border in my country that is bit of a curiosity. It is the Franco-Spanish border separating the French and Spanish Basque Country. The border is the Rio Bidasoa river. It's not very complex but it has one particularity. There is an island there that switches sovereignty every 6 months. That's right! For 6 months of the year it's French and for the other 6 months it's Spanish. So from the 1st of August to the 31st of January it's French territory and from the 1st of February to the 31st of July it's Spanish. It means that every six months, the official borders of my country, France, and those of our Spanish friends to the south, change. The island in question is the "Ile des Faisans" or "Isla de los Faisanes" (Pheasant Island). The arrangement is known as a "condominium" and it is the only such example in the world.

Actually most of the princely states had autonomy even though they were part of either india or pakistan but in 1955 the one unit policy abolished all autonomous governments, kingdoms like Bhawalpur,Khairpur,Amb and Kalat were now administered by pakistan this hasn't positively affected the population of the former princely states and many people who experienced the change have said that life was better before the one unit policy

As Belgium and Germany are both part of the Schengen Area there is absolutely no problem for this german guy to enter or leave his house within Belgium. But what would happen if the german or belgium police want to visit him? I don't know. Or what Postman will gives him his letters? Maybe I should try to find out some day. This house is only 15km from my house.

+dasadist22 ... not only in former colonies!! Churchill was directly involved in drawing the borders inside the Yugoslavia during the WW2, dividing people of the same nationality (and even generating new territorial-base-nationalities) thus making sure, that those borders are drawn in such a way that inducing a future war ought to be very easy and cheap (..and it was, unfortunately)... compared to old Churchill in terms of 'divide and rule' capabilities, Stalin was a toddler!!
