This is a wonderful video. Thank you so much! I am about to attempt a very important burn on a very expensive project and I have put it off for so long because I am terrified to mess up on such an expensive piece. This gives me a little more confidence that I can take care of an issue if it pops up. Thank you.

Hi Beth, Just about anything can be fixed. What I highly recommend is burn lightly or pale colored at first. As you feel more comfortable and confident, you can slowly darken up the image as needed. If something needs to be fixed, it is so much easier to fix light colored burn marks. Thanks for the comment

Thanks Brenda for All your videos and info! I'd like to add since I haven't seen this info anywhere...that after erasing, whether with an Exacto knife, sandpaper or eraser to use a medium soft brush often to get the debris out of the way to really see your results. I found it stops me from over doing it.

This is fascinating Brenda. It was surprising how much contrast you could bring back using just an ink eraser. For me, pyrography looks great because of the slight imperfections in the wood but here I think that you're minimising imperfections, such as seams, that are too distracting. It all seems like a balancing act. Great video Brenda, I really enjoyed this :)

Hi David, I tend to get a big obsessed...ok, neurotic about some things line grain lines. I'm trying to be better about accepting the characteristics of the wood as part of the "art," but that is a tough one for me. I want it to look like it was done on paper. :)

@@PyrographyMadeEasy Embrace the wood grain. That's what gives pyrography its great look. I'd be exactly the same though and get obsessed trying to hide the grain... :)

Wonderful video! It helps take the fear out of messing up! :o)
@PyrographyMadeEasy
@PyrographyMadeEasy 5 жыл бұрын
Just remember it's not messing up, it's learning by experience. One of the biggest mistakes or things I had to learn was to turn the heat setting down on my unit and take my time to build up the depth and "color" of the artwork. Burning hot gets faster results, but it's not as forgiving and you don't tend to get as much tonal variation. Hope you enjoy the art of pyrography!

Hi Bill, A curved scalpel would work wonderfully. I keep meaning to add one to my pile of assorted scrapers, but I always forget when I'm at the craft store. Amazing tips and advice contained withing this video Brenda :) I have just thought of a question for you, how deep does the actual burn go into the wood ? is it just a surface burn ? Your skills are out of this world i must say.. i really enjoyed watching this video from you ( Q O P )
@PyrographyMadeEasy
@PyrographyMadeEasy 5 жыл бұрын
Dino King! How the heck are you? I use a very light pressure when burning, so mine are mostly surface burns. On occasion is use a knife tip, as I call it, that has a very narrow edge and it tends to sink down into the wood. When using that tip I might end up with a 1/8" (0.32 cm) deep line.
