This is my boldest attempt at flat plane carving yet. One of my goals for 2021 was to take my carving from the Beginner 1 to the Beginner 2 stage. That includes taking longer, wider, cleaner and fewer cuts. Going from cutting flakes to cutting real chips. Finishing with 2 cuts as opposed to 8 cuts. All part of what I consider to be a "better" flat plane style carver.
I hope you'll follow along. I think you'll find this style interesting and I believe you'll enjoy seeing what I have to carve today. It is part 1 of 2 as I found myself making more deliberate cuts, taking a bit more time in the process and just slowing down the pace.
