QS Outdoors is indoor on that rainy day.
I decided to record myself carving a Viking and make sort of a tutorial out of it.
I'm using lind (basswood) as material.
Knives I use in this video are Flexcut roughing and cutting knife along side a Morakniv carving knife.
I assume that you know how to stop cut, do a V cut and a triangle cut.

This is awesome! Thanks for this video! Everyone likes to carve old man wood spirits, hillbillies, fishermen, or other miniatures...and it's hard to find anyone who branches out from those concepts. I have subscribed and clicked the bell, so I'll be following all your videos from now on. Thanks!!

Thanks a lot my friend. Content is slow coming but I'll have more in the future. I also need to start breaking out from my own vision. I'm only carving vikings right now! haha. Enjoy your day.

Can you explain the distances with your sketches before you start carving
@QSOutdoors
@QSOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Jessica, if I understand your question correctly you want to know the distance of the lines? It would be hard to say about this specific carving. It was quite some time ago. I also usually eyeball pretty much everything I do without any measurement.
@jessicah2504
@jessicah2504 3 жыл бұрын
I understand. Maybe a shot of your block pre marked before you carve. I find it easier when all the landmark cuts are pre marked. Thank you again. I’ve noticed you increasing improvement with time. I only hope to excel as quickly.

Yes, guide line measurements will help a lot. Even a simple thing like holding a ruler up to your guideline . Excellent carving I will try one soon hope it comes out as good as yours.
