I have a 1940s house with a crawlspace and hardwood floors. The sub floor is planks and when in the crawlspace I can see a lot of gaps and up into the inside of the house, so crawlspace air and moisture is coming up into the house. I do not think refinishing the existing floor would be an option, there are large gaps and some warping and in one room I need to remove the subfloor in one spot because it is so bad. What would be the best flooring option and prevent moisture from effecting the new floor? I need it to be cost effective too, LOL.
