Great perspective not only on this device (which is admittedly more sexy than expected) but also the portable emulation console market in general. Agree on the notion that configuration is a barrier on these devices, has kept me tinkering with my PS VITA as that hacking scene continues to evolve. I really feel like this consoles is pretty damn underwhelming. RP2 has a good community that has more helpful guides for setting it up. A lot of these issues people are having issues are emulators from the google play store. Tinkering is really the downfall for every console. But it’s a price you pay to even emulate. It isn’t easy to just code everything to work perfectly with every game, every console, and have a good UI. But anbernic fanboys overhype these systems it isn’t different from their last one. Once Retroid pocket 3 comes out I believe it will be the best handheld console. It will actually bring something better than these RGXXX consoles with their visual differences and underwhelming emulating power
@TynologyGaming3 жыл бұрын
@@Adem-nl8pd My last video dives into that a bit (not the Abernic stuff though) - I love my RP2, but definitely takes some tinkering/optimizing to get the most out it. The versatility is pretty unmatched in the space.

@@Adem-nl8pd To be honest I think it will be the first decent widely available Raspberry Pi CM4 based handheld that will take the crown and rule for a good few years, given the Pi scene and RetroPie already gets so much support and is so good, the emulators are really well optimized already for the Pi3 and the Pi 4 is so much more powerful that it runs N64 at full speed, as well as Dreamcast and PSP.

I have been trying to figure out my favorite handheld formfactors as of late. The SP Unhinged is shaped exactly like this thing, and it feels amazing, but when a game heavily uses the R and L buttons, like F-Zero, I start missing the GBA form factor, like this things wide body predecessors more or less have. Tapping R and L in Fire emblem is no biggy, but in F-Zero you have to constantly double tap R and L for cornering, and it gets a bit painful. I still dont know my favorite form factor, but I lean towards this older GameBoy style when it comes to games with light, or no L R button pressing.
