GREAT way to give an old tree new life. I like the video progression, as we can see the process in 2 minutes.

How talented ! This one was an interesting video as the sequences skipped the carving process and just peeked through the progress ❤

Good morning, Brother! The Ash tree is a great spot for your latest carving. Ground floor allows you to meet this one face to face. I agree with 'wheels', this fellow looked similar to Hulk Hogan. I was drawn to the steely eyes staring like lasers through the wooded suroundings. Excellent!
Wow that is amazing thanks for showing us this carving

Rod, I think that is the best one yet. The detail is awesome. What a lovely way to use standing dead trees. Sad that the Ash and Elm trees have been killed off by an evasive beetle. I can remember lots of Elm trees in my Northern Indiana hometown of Mishawaka. They are all gone now.
@RHumphrey11 ай бұрын
Thanks very much, Jane! Yep, we still have a few elm around, very few. Dutch Elm Disease is what's killing them around here. The world is so much smaller now that controlling invasive bugs and disease is a huge challenge... among other things. We enjoy visiting the Mishiwaka/South Bend area! 😊

I like the twist, brief and covered the steps well. I hope that tree holds up for a long time. You may consider removing the tops of dead trees for future carvings. Ash don't fare well after dying. Great job sir! Enjoyed.
@RHumphrey11 ай бұрын
thanks very much! I have noticed some of the standing dead ones getting a bit soft... they tend to break off in the wind about 15 feet up the trunk. I was actually out there when two came crashing down on a windy day. Lots of widow-makers out there.

Nice! I should shift to a LOTR theme...
@paulrapp611 ай бұрын
Hi Rod, I’m not so sure about that. Although I am a great fan of Tolkien’s works (I lost count of my rereadings of “The Lord of the Rings” at about 25 or so) I would offer this caveat; be thou not restricted to just those characters, vast though their numbers might be. One day in a fit of inspiration you will want to depict somebody (or something) that does not exist in the canon. By all means bring forth all the LOTR characters that your imagination and available trees allow. But please do not let that become a limit on your incredible artistic talent! Keep the aspidistra flying! God bless, Paul
