Nice work! I wonder how a regular cigarette ashtray would work. If it would have to be fully metal on bottom. I’d have to look that up.

As long as you use the stainless snuff you could use it for cigarettes I guess Thanks for watching and commenting

Great video and great turn out 👍👍and maybe you could try using hot clue on the out side of the crack to prevent the epoxy from leaking out.

What a great idea for a Christmas present! I have made several cigarette ashtrays out of poplar but this one is much more beautiful although perhaps a bit big. Could you elaborate a bit on the actual dimensions? Too bad I do not have a drum sander to make the coves like you did. Ths far, my ashtrays don't have any. To something similar, I'm thinking of drilling 3/4 inch holes with a spade bit and then work the edge down. Doing it that way it will be hard to have them all at the same depth but I can try. Thnx for the inspiration!

Hello and thank you Leo, Your kind words are appreciated. This cigar ashtray is gone but the Approximate measurements were 8 inches wide and maybe 4 inches tall. I have used your idea in the past of drilling holes first and it worked out ok....but like you said not always perfectly even Thanks again!!

Nice work, Luie! May I ask for your source on the metal snuffer discs? That’s a very nice touch! Thanks for sharing.

I worked in a metal stamping factory for years and this was scrap. If you can find a local metal stamper he may give you a bucket full for a song or even less

Did you make hole in the bottom of the wood for connecting it to the lathe?

what does the pressure pot do to the wood?
@spindlesworkshop97443 жыл бұрын
It removes the bubbles from the epoxy. Well it really doesn't remove them it pressure them so small you can't see them👍😎

Nice, but some say it’s a disgrace to snuff out a cigar, you’re supposed to let it die naturally.
