I like this a lot, Kimsey! First of all, it's pretty wood. I really like that you just left some of the imperfections in the piece, I love that it's a winged bowl/platter and the finish is great! Real nice job, my friend! 👍 Phil
@kimseyjustkimsey5256Күн бұрын
Thanks Phil I appreciate it!😎 Yep those imperfections just give a nice character, in the beginning I thought I would fix a spot or two but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. Have a good one buddy!🤝

Lovely work Kimsey and I like the idea of using a glue block to the base (I do this quite a bit as I like to turn shallow pieces). The olive wood is excellent to turn.
@kimseyjustkimsey5256Күн бұрын
Thanks Robert! It is some very satisfying wood to turn, hoping to get a chance to try another piece, yep those shallow pieces are the best way with the glue block, have a good one buddy 🤝

Awesome artwork as always, and happy turning my friend 😊. That's one species of wood that I haven't tried to turn yet. Obviously because it doesn't grow in Pa lol😂. But really cool work.

They olive wood is makes a beautiful bowl-hard but beautiful wood. Nice finish and natural as you can get, great work friend. How do you like your gouge sharpening system?
@kimseyjustkimsey5256Күн бұрын
Howdy Zetus! 😎 It sure does that stuff is probably the hardest stuff I’ve ever worked with, I do like the sharpening system a lot definitely glad I got that thing, cost a little bit but it’s worth it.

That’s a beauty Kimsey. I like the rough sawn lip you left on the top. How do you like the Sorby sharpening system? Is it worth the $$$? Merry Christmas!🎄
@kimseyjustkimsey5256Күн бұрын
Thanks buddy I appreciate it 😎 I wish I would’ve bought the Sorby sharpener a couple of years before I finally did before prices started going up because I paid quite a bit more for it than it was when I kept talking myself out of buying it, but definitely worth the money I paid for it even though, it’s the easiest ever to use, I would buy another one if this one broke down, Merry Christmas to you too!🎄
