The cracks add so much character to an already gorgeous piece. I was holding my breath the whole time, though! Spend time with your family, enjoy the holidays, and don't worry about a video. You more than deserve a week off! Hope all goes well with the health stuff. Take care of yourself above all else...you are a treasure!

As you were discussind the cracks I was saying to the screen, "Don't fill them! Don't fill them!" I guess you heard me. That bowl looks almost like a polished stone. Beautiful! Be well, Phil.
@hccdoc18 сағат бұрын
Great decision, Phil, to leave the cracks be. Filling them would have ruined the character of this bowl. It's like the bowl is smiling back at you. I love it. It's vintage, Phil Anderson! Enjoy your family next week. No need to worry about putting out a video. I think I speak for many of us, we are just extremely grateful you share your talents with us. A very merry Christmas to you and yours! We will see you when we see you. Thanks!

The cracks show the wonderful talent that you have when such a rough looking piece of wood sits on your lathe. You have a wonderful gift and you offer it for us to enjoy. I love your weekly offerings, complete with cracks.
@iheartmops16 сағат бұрын
I love the shape, the grain, the open cracks, and the sloping transition on the rim from worked to natural edge. That shape combined with the cracks calls to mind the rotary hook on a sewing machine. Also you expressed doubts about the ratio of sapwood to heartwood, but I think that's perfect too. This might be my new favorite Phil Anderson piece!

Howdy Phil. Cracks & all, your bowl is gorgeous. Like us, it has it defects & problems but that just establishes the character within all of us right? I have a couple of slabs of Olive like yours but the cracks aren't nearly as deep. Now I have a lot more confidence & knowledge as to what to do with them. Don't be concerned about next week's video but concern yourself with your own health upkeep. Merry Christmas to you & all of your great family and have a Happy & safe New Year. I'm sure that myself & all of the other viewers will look forward to your next video whenever it's posted. Take care and keep turning. Bill Riley
