Dylan that was the most interesting video, I’m 77 and remember the fun I had in my youth. I salute you for showing us what an out standing young man your are. Love seeing you sitting under the metal panels cooking your Tea then off to bed all while the snow was coming down. Love how you show the bits when you make a mistake like with the door post being a little short, some would just edit that out. Owen seems to love looking at the camera when Molly brings him on site bless him xx Thanks for another superb video. See you all soon xxx ❤️💙💙

What a surprise to have snow. You’re already hanging out in the cabin, so you can tell that there are going to be many memories made. Owen sure is a cutie-nice to see him and Molly.

Wow, very eventful week. Really enjoy the videos. I have a hint to share, not building related. It has to do with sleeping out in the cold. Sleep in a plastic bag inside the sleeping bag. During the night you perspire, and if that humid air gets to the sleeping bag, the moisture will condense and it will get cold, losing some insulating capabilities. At least sleep with you feet in a bag, because your feet perspire a great deal. I have winter camped a good bit, even in 2 degree weather, and this has kept me warm.
@Woodbrew2 күн бұрын
Thanks Scott! I’ll keep that tip in mind next time I go camping👍

Where I am up in Canada this would be considered a light snow, but I can understand how this would be a major snow dump for your area. I’ve been in your neck of the woods a few times and I love it.

As one who lives in the mountains of north Idaho, your little skiff of snow doesn't seem like much, we sometimes get two feet of snow at a time (not often, but it is not a rarity either), however, for areas that are not used to it, I understand it can be rather crippling. I had to admire your fortitude to cook and "campout" in this snow storm. Loved seeing Molly helping you, she is gaining invaluable skills. I am glad that little Owen made an appearance (or two) as well, he is so precious. The cabin is coming along nicely, I am enjoying watching it take shape.

North Idaho is no joke. We had some structures collapse in our area from the snow load. This was around 2x the most recorded in history here.🥶 Thank you for the kind words and for watching!

Dillon, Good video! I live in central Canada our coldest night this winter was in the range of -22F for about 3 days and nights not to mention the wind chill which is usually10 degrees colder. I agree with making sure you take care of your family and being ready if the power goes off. Looking forward to seeing the cabin going up! It sounds like you have plans for Owens upbringing, he'll be a happy boy!

It warmed up tp 34°F today. It was -24°F. Then it warmed up enough for it to snow. The snow you had is what we call just your normal Tuesday. Looks like fun. You should make a BIG long handle maul. Take a 2x2 for a handle & a 8x8 for the head.

If you wanted to make it warmer, you can hang a tarp on the inside of that center section. And then that way it just keeps the loft. It's blocked off, and you can just crawl under the tarp, from the center section into the loft

Next, you need to build a fire pit app there a decent one with good rocks and stuff. Have a good round fire pit with some. You know, chairs. The rock seats around it or stump seats around it, or vlog seats around it, whatever
@Woodbrew2 күн бұрын
That's a great idea, we've been thinking about that too. The rock seating around a fire pit sounds awesome.
@donaldarmstrong36572 күн бұрын
arm chair support here. You can use either zip ties, or plastic clamps on the sides, of the tarp, to attach ropes. At least 2 or 3. Then throw them over the top, to the other side, and pull each rope. the tarp will rise, till you ready to stop. Just nail the tarps to the studs. And do the other side. If using two tarps, then eyelets can be pulled at an angle, to keep the overlap from blowing away.

I wondered if you thought big windows would be great at both ends of the loft? And also if you checked the summer angle of the sun when determining the overhang? Or maybe this is mostly shaded in summer. I love the “ kids fort” approach to a snow storm. Great content.
