There definitely IS a wright way to building a box. It mainly involves boiled linseed oil and a bit of carving. ;) happy boxing day

As the recipient of your secret Santa gift, I want to say thank you. The knife and box are amazing. The other couple items in the package are also very much appreciated. The last of what honing compound I had was down to a nub, and I was needing to order some. I get home from work, open your package, problem solved. Beutuful box, sharp new marking knife, and no need to place an order for compound right now. Haha. Only thing that could've made it any better was to have a glass of scotch in the box. Lol. Thanks again, and Merry christkwanukka, or whatever it us you celebrate. (I refuse to say Happy H*******, just to please the ❄️'s)

Really cool little box, James. Someone is a lucky recipient. Hey, a tip for you. When you have a really thin piece to plane that even a plane stop can't hold in place, those red silicone mats from Woodcraft are sticky enough that they hold both to the bench and the piece from moving while you plane it. I've even planed 1/32" thick veneer using one. Just have to keep it clean and it works wonders. No double stick tape needed.

Really nice box. I like that it's compact. The first thing I do when I get a new tool is remove from the ill fitting packaging that takes up too much room. This is great, I'd totally keep the knife in there. I made a nice board for my daughter to do jigsaw puzzles on (meant to do it last year, but time etc!). Unfortunately I wasn't in charge of Christmas presents and she didn't get any puzzles this year! Luckily I had hidden under the sofa, so I've just left it there for today, she can get it another year!

On the channel "Crimson Custom Guitars" (kzbin.info), he showed an alternative to double sided tape for holding down thin stock for planing. He placed a strip of masking tape on the bench and another on the back of the stock. He then used a few drops of CA glue and accelerator on the tape to glue the two tape strips together. Peeling them off later was very easy.

I know im two months late, but Ben hates double sided tape, says even the expensive ones suck, thats why he uses the masking tape and super glue trick. On the other hand, Tamar from 3x3custom basically said that she has had no problems with double sided tape, so maybe its better in the us than in the uk

Nice work. Have you ever tried doing oil finish first before doing any CA glue, so the parts absorb the oil evenly? (I was experimenting with filling some checks with glue and tried it that way, and it seemed to work pretty well.)

Beautiful box. Those small pieces are always hard to clamp. Does the bottom hold only by friction, or I missed you gluing it?

Somehow I didn't get footage of putting that in. But that is installed with the sides when it's all clamped together. There's a tiny bit of epoxy holding in place.
