I wonder which is more satisfying for you, the rough carving stage and knocking all the wood off, or the fine details phase where you get to slowly shave all the details into focus?
Exceptionally good my man. Absolutely beautiful art. The Japanese just know what they’re doing when it comes to fine craftsmanship.

Anyone else getting extreme anxiety watching him chisel towards his foot, leg, crotch. I'm aware he is masterful at what he does, I just can't shake that fear :')
@JAPAN-WOODCARVING2 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry for making you feel fear😥
@mmhcreates2 жыл бұрын
The fear is in your mind, the mastery is in his hands. Free the fear, for his hands do not tremble. Or hear the fear, and do not attempt this without adequate practice. Which is what the fear represents, lack of experience in that which we view/see with our own eyes.

That was a very enjoyable video. Excellent work!! I have seen some of the similar style helmets in Kumamoto-Jo, when we were there in 2001 and 2014. The tool you are using at approx 24:51 is interesting to me. Does it have a specific name, or is it a regular chisel that has been reshaped to have the rounded leading edge? Cheers, Lee
