Nice bridge. I was waiting to see the bridge open.

Not often! More like once per month!

We also spend that in many US cities, my point is the little money available doesnt go far in the US when nice simple fairly inexpensive bridges like this cant be built but rather overbuilt bridges are required.

The little money, we got money enough.

It's really weird reading this while the US gov has pulled about 3 trillion out of its ass for COVID stuff. There is money enough, they just don't want to spend it on shit that doesn't make their life better.

I agree $4 million is nothing, I'm not saying its not worth spending money on bike facilities, hardly. Rather I'm saying we end up spending all our bike money on a few needlessly overbuilt projects instead of lower cost solutions which would allow more to be built.

Hoe vaak gaat die brug per dag open? Lijkt me niet zo heel vaak. (How often does the bridge open per day? Doesn't seem to be very often)

jumping allowed?
@Ponchoed12 жыл бұрын
Would never be allowed in the US: not to ADA grade/railing/surface standards, cant drive an ambulance over bridge in case of emergency, fire danger of wood bridge and bridge piers may impact fish. Instead we would have to build oversized soulless concrete bridge at huge expense to address all these concerns and because of that would then be out of reach financially for local govt, therefore going for the long costly federal funding application process. End result: a $4 milion bridge 8 yrs later

Ambulance drive over cycling bridge? They have their own bridges.
@woutervanr4 жыл бұрын
@@henkoosterink8744 Mostly true. Ambulance drivers will use cyclanes in NL if it's busy for example. If a cycle bridge is a shortcut they might use it as well. These are things you keep in mind when designing them, don't worry. Though, as you can see with this bridge and others, it certainly isn't a requirement in every case.
