Woodland Camp in a Canvas Baker Tent. Camping with my Dog. Hunters Chicken and Chips.

In this video, I am out in the woods for a relaxing overnight camp in my home made canvas Baker campfire tent with my trusty dog Maggie.
After setting up and organising camp, I gather firewood and light the campfire ready for making dinner - hunters chicken and chips - shared with Maggie. I spend a very comfortable evening with a couple of very good ales, the warmth from the fire and the sounds of woodland around me - bliss!
Morning brings a frost and beautiful clear blue skies. A strong coffee and a hearty breakfast and it is soon time to pack away - it has been a perfect overnight camp - comfortable and in good company with some very enjoyable grub.

There is nothing better than camping with a dog;. Old dogs are one of the most precious things on earth and deserve to be cherished and loved. I lost my 90 pound lap dog in August to cancer. It was a huge shock because we didn't know he had it until it metastasized. He had just turned ten in July and he also was having trouble with arthritis and mobility. God bless Maggie.

Raising a glass to Maggie now. I know how painful it is to lose your best buddy like that! I lost mine about 5 months ago and life isn't the same. I'll say an extra prayer tonight for her and you. Also, thanks for the chicken and chips recipe. I made that for dinner tonight and my wife loved it. It was outstanding at home in a dutch oven in the range indoors, so I can only imagine how great it would be over a fire, camping. Again, my heart goes out to you for your loss of Maggie. I've made your fries many times now and decided after some debate to call it "English Fries" in honor of our mother country. I was thinking of Simon Fries, but it just didn't seem right. Thanks for another great video. Your love for Maggie is an inspiration for all of those who love animals. My best friends are dogs, their love and loyalty is far beyond any that I've ever found with people. I believe that it was the American writer Samuel Clemmons aka Mark Twain who said that, " if you feed a dog and treat it with kindness, it will be your friend and will not bite you, sadly the same can't always be said of people ". Maggie sounds like my dog Poppy, albeit my dog's a Springer. She'll be 17 this year and, like Maggie, has slowed down and sleeps a lot. I used to walk for miles and miles with her up at my local forest but sadly she can just about manage a short, arthritic waddle to the end of the street and back these days. I'll miss her terribly when the time comes as I've had her since she was 9 weeks old. I'm dreading it but as you say, every extra day is a cherished day.

I had a wonderful Springer called Rollo who made it to seventeen....a magnificent dog...all I can say is...when the end comes write down as many positive memories as possible...all kind of thanks for the life share...he was my last dog...a replacement was just unimaginable...he taught me a good deal....

in 40 years of bush camping im yet to find an air mattress that last more than a few nights without deflating. even the modern branded makes are complete fails. love the baker and that Hungarian coffee pot is outstanding. i have to track one down as my mrs is Hungarian. anyway, I digress, as you get older, a roll matt doesn't 0ffer the extra comfort I need these days.

It seams to me that when any dog or any person who spends time outdoors all day & into the evening , that night for some Strange reason we all sleep better at night , on that night . I guess it’s all the oxygen from the outdoors & the Vitamin D we get from the sun & all of the work or fun we have doing stuff we love outdoors . If you think about it , it’s pretty cool .

I love heavy camping for a couple of nights, a week or more, especially with dogs, great food, sturdy/dry/comfortable/safe gear and things for which the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms might be interested. I love your survival/hiking/camping/recreation skills, courtesies and ethics, but frankly, it's the cooking dude. I love that percolator, and also total silence but the machinery, trains, private aircraft noise actually comforts me.
