I'm getting a reoccurring theme and that is to simplify things life doesn't have to be so complicated and at this point in my life I need to enjoy simpler things that I used to enjoy in my youth.

Enjoy the coming spring and skiing! I just got back from our annual winter camp at about 10k feet above sea level. Many dug caves in the snow to sleep in, my father and i set up my canvas wall tent and had a warm fire going in the stove all night. Temperatures well below freezing, and woke up this morning to about 7 inches of fresh snow. Always a blast, and some of my favorite camping! Always a pleasure watching your stuff here, Bjørn!

I feel at peace listening to you. The story of the first Norwegian, is a fine example of oral storytelling. It must truly be a beautiful thing to have large woods to explore nearby. That is rather hard to find in the outskirts of Greater Montreal Quebec. The city is too heavy for me, on the moral aspect, it is just too much and I will not go into the details about it. My home is my place of peace and it will remain so. If I may say so, people such as you give me a glimmer of hope. Take care.

Hi Bjorn, another great video! Nice to see you soaking up that vitamin D. I'm only 19 but this year I've started to appreciate the beautiful purple flowers sprouting through the dead leaves, the birds singing and the sunlight glistening through the bare branches of our deciduous trees. Looks like a useful knife you've got there. For me, I'd rather have another bushcraft knife as my backup. I couldn't deal with a bare metal handle. On that subject, how does the skinny handle feel in your large heathen hands?
@BjornAndreasBull-Hansen5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Matty. That's an very good description! Being up in the mountains at the moment, I look forward to come home and see the last of the snow gone. I want spring now. The knife handle on that knife is very small, so I can't grip it properly, but as mentioned, it lives on my backpack and will stay there as a backup.

Haha, I love that Norwegian origin story. It's like here, we all stole bread and got shipped to Australia, lol. Autumn is my favourite time of year, and I look forward to Winter too. But that is because Summer is unbearably hot, and the Winters are mild. Winter (and late Autumn / early Spring) is the only time its cool enough to wear anything more than a t-shirt or light pullover without overheating. The trees hold onto their leaves, and it might only snow perhaps one day a year here in Western Australia, in the very south of the state in the Stirling Ranges. People drive for hours to see a handful of flakes fall from the sky - sometimes I think Aussies and Norwegians are not so different, lol.
@BjornAndreasBull-Hansen5 жыл бұрын
You are probably right! As I have mentioned, I have relatives in Austrlia, and that is actually because of a great-great-great something uncle was sent there as a convict. I can imagine that winters are preferable in Australia!

Greetings Bjorn. I noticed that knife on your backpack from a previous video. Thought you might introduce it soon. Been seeing it around more. I know how you feel about the change in seasons. Always enjoy when the daylight is longer and that first spring day when you feel heat from the sun. It adds an extra spring to your step as my grandfather would say. I don´t know about that being just a "getting older" kind of thing... I mean i´m 34 so count that as you wish, but i have always been a "child of the changing seasons" in a way. I really, really can not imagine being happy for long in a place where the seasons don´t really change. I used to be a bit jealous of people who can grow certain crops all year round that i can only get one harvest from in one year, but really... I am the same as you are, in that towards the end of one season, i begin really looking forward to the following one. Hope climate change won´t eliminate winters here, where i am.

Are there no spiders in Norway??? I want to practice woodland skills and go camping and such more often, but I'm terrified of spiders, and every time I go to out in to Wilderness, it's like they are waiting for me and they always crawl on me or get in my stuff. This never seems to be an issue for people like Bjorn. He opened that cabin that is clearly not in any way sealed or insulated, and happily sat down with his gear and set up the camera. I am wondering if any spiders or bugs or other critters have to be cleared out first etc

I would of never believed that you would have fire danger there. Very hot in summer in USA and windy so we have bans on fires in summer. Do you get lightening storms which ignite forest fires or danger of catching villages on fire in the mountains? I would have thought that small self contained stoves would be safe, the types which have small stove pipe and a screen at the top to stop sparks. Not much fun camping with not out door cooking. Only thing left to do is buy a small camper trailer now. (Paul from Oregon, USA).

But it was super cozy. Nu Right now the sun is shining and I am returning home. But I just have to watch video again. where do you live Martin? And have you had a good trip in the forest recently? And many thanks to you Bjorn for taking your time for our sake. And I will clearly look at the description of this knife.
