The most difficult thing about setting these stoves up is getting the chimney (Flu pipe) rolled out right the very first time. Here is a link to a useful video that helped me. My chimney came out perfect: kzbin.info/www/bejne/baPCl3SGfZWtmdE

Hiya mate. Challenge I had was around the flu swaying during the burn in. I bought cap type thing with tie out points in the end as the make/model I’d bought didn’t supply one. All good though - just need to find somewhere that isn’t a back garden to go and have a night out. I need to find some permissions.👍🏻👍🏻

The cowl on my workshop rocket stove, had 1cm holes in it. Designed as a vent, rather than a flue, but I thought it would still be ok. After a few months I was having problems getting a dwar and being smoked out trying to light it. The cowl had clogged up. Cut the webs to open up the holes to a more sensible size and all has been well since. But surprised how even such big holes got blocked.

That appears to be an awesome little wood stove Sandy. I am looking forward to you getting out in the woods and testing it to see if it works as good as it looks. I have a feeling that it will do fine though. One thing I would do is take that damper and go out to the shop and try to copy it and make an extra one. It would be so easy to lose. You could make one out of a piece of pie pan or something like that. Just a suggestion. Thanks for sharing this with us Sandy, take care and congratulations on your new toy! That spark arrester really needs some hardware cloth (1/4, to 1/8") spacing for inside or around the outside of the spark arrester. Just check it after each use for creosote soot clogging. Nice one Sandy. Mine arrived three days ago and I have “burnt it in” ready for my first hot tent camp tomorrow overnight and then for three days next weekend. I have played safe and purchased a carbon monoxide alarm. I was a little concerned about how open the flue/arrester is, I had a spare peanut feeder so I have used the mesh from that to line the top of the arrester without blocking it in any way, I then made sure I gave it a “hard” burnout and it worked a treat. Dont burn much Pine or any fatwood in this stove,its a great stove but the slots on the spark arrestor are rather large,and you will get flaming sparks from the chimney that will come down and burn small holes in your hot tent/lavvu,i had this issue camping in a forest with nothing but Pine wood to burn. I would reccomend making a wire mesh to fit inside the spark arrestor. This year was my 1st year hot tent camping,it truly is a Great stove for a little over 300$ USD. Be Safe friends!

Iv'e been wanting one of these folding stoves for ages. Seen them on aliexpress where you can order one as a sample, and have thought about it. A few differences I've seen from the aliexpress on is it doesn't have windows, and the flue exits from the back with a 90 deg elbow, leaving the entire top surface flat and free for cooking / pot / pan.

Only thing that scares me about light weight stoves is warping, but it looks like a great stove. Look forward to a hot tent video in the future
@WiltshireMan
@WiltshireMan 3 жыл бұрын
I've watched a few hot tent stove videos and to be honest they all seem to warp to some extent, I think it is normal, but so long as they go back together again it should be fine. Titanium stoves should outlast steel ones by a big margin

Gotta treat yourself sometimes. I noticed some tiny gaps round many of the rivets, hopefully they won't allow smoke into your tent. Amazing how small it packs up, perfect for you.
@WiltshireMan
@WiltshireMan 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Bry, Yes I saw them too but I think it will be OK. I couldn't see any smoke coming from them even with the dampers closed, and the stove does seem quite controllable. I'm looking forward to trying it out and having a warm camp and cooking on it:)

I bought this just recently and love the stove. The chimney, not so much! Had to buy a longer chimney as my tipi s almost 9 ft tall. Got a bit of wind and the chimney collapsed, now it's garbage. I wanted to get proper pipe sections and can't find 3.1 inch diameter solid pipe. So disappointed at this because I really love the stove!

This type of stove is really only designed to work with lightweight chimneys. I have not had aany problems with mine sofar.

Great little stove Sandy! Can't wait to see you and in the new tent all set up enjoying yourself. one thought just came to mind? I know you probably mentioned the reason why but it escaped me, why don't you bring Carman on your camp outs like you did with Elsie? just curious. ok thanks for sharing. been chasing lots of Pota/sota guys having fun on cw. 73 Hp to gt u in th lg some time. de Ellis WA1RKS

Hi Ellis, I may start to bring Carmen on a few Camps, we shall see, but she is a sight hound and have to be careful with game and wildlife. I shall be doing some winter CW from the hot tent. Stay tuned:)

I like the look of this stove, however having seen it on a few videos I’m a bit concerned with how the flue collar attaches to the lid of the stove as it looks very loose and flimsy. You can also see flame through the gap, as such there’s every chance of it leaking fumes. If I got it I think I’d have to make a more secure collar like on the Pomoly ones. 👍🏻
@WiltshireMan
@WiltshireMan 2 жыл бұрын
Yes the collar could be improved, but it doesn't leak fumes unless you close the chimney damper shut, and then mostly the fumes will come from the door

@@englishwoodsman If you watched the whole video Dan you will see that I use two stoves, a smaller one and a bigger one with the built in oven, the built in oven doesn't work very well, for smaller tents like the OneTigris Iron wall the smaller stove WITHOUT oven is the better stove, just the right size:)
