Your chess set looks beautiful! But aren't you supposed to wear gloves when working with epoxy/resin?

Absolutely gorgeous work. This makes a lovely show piece. The only issue I could possibly have is that the LEDs are buried. When they eventually go, they can never be replaced.
@Imezita Жыл бұрын
Exactly what I've thought!

LEDs last tens of thousands of hours, and I would hope the recipient of this set doesn't leave them on all the time

@@CrizzyEyesThis seems like the sort of thing that would be passed down through generations
@mozarteanchaos11 ай бұрын
@@CrizzyEyes assuming that they work as intended, that is. defects shouldn't happen, but they do, and assuming the LEDs will work perfectly for the entire planned lifespan of the board is pretty bold. either way, it's putting a limited lifespan on the product, which could've been avoided by just... not burying the LEDs in resin.

I gasped in delight when the lights turned on, it makes the board look kinda like beautiful art on old parchment paper and makes me think of an old treasure map or some such! I adore the way it makes all the reds pop. And then the calming oceanic blue of the unlit board looks so wonderful, too... really gorgeous work! 💙

Stunning finished product! One small constructive criticism that comes from painful personal experience- embedding lighting inside of resin projects isn't the move because it can't be repaired. Had batteries rust in one and that was that and then in another I was dumb and didn't test the lights first and they never turned on. 😭

As a collector of chess sets, that looks beautiful! But as a chess player, I think it would be distracting to actually PLAY on that board.

Unless you are a complete amateur playing against someone who really likes to think about their next move. Then it would be nice because you have have something to stare at that is less distracting than your phone. (This is me, actually). That took incredible skill, I agree.

I think the only way this could be better is having a cloudy semi-transparent white tile next to the dark wooden tile. It doesn’t quite look perfect without the other squares. But this is still breathtaking to watch, the effort that went into this is phenomenal. Love it.

Beautiful stuff. My one and only nitpick would be that there should've been some sort of visible demarcation at the edge of the chessboard proper (the squares where you actually put the chess pieces). Maybe a line of metallic foil embedded into the surface of the resin.

I'd love a chessboard like this as I have an antique portuguese ocean-themed chess with the pieces coated in gold or silver depending on colours, ship captain being the king, mermaid the queen, seahorses being the knights, lighthouses being the rooks and the pawns being fishermen or fish seller ladies depending on the side
