Boy Ian, I was “rootin” for ya all along there! Very nice piece, those resin shards are sharp sometimes! Nicely done, love old gnarly roots. Be safe….

Absolutely stunning Ian and well worth the wait from my point of view. Great job turning it mate. Some viewers with just 3 letters in their name obviously have no appreciation of the skill that is required to make something like this. Take care Ian. Cheers, Huw PS You gave that person the perfect reply.

Am amazed how beautiful this ended up. Would love a piece like that in my house. Probably too expensive for me.

Cheers Norman! I’m not really sure what to charge for it to be honest 😂
@Noneyabusinessok Жыл бұрын
Lots of work involved, so can't be given away for pennies. Known artists would charge an arm and a leg. Hopefully one day you can be recognised and make money from something you seem to enjoy and have a lot of knowledge about.

Good grief. How many hours did the prep alone of gnarly root take?
@IanMacWoodturning Жыл бұрын
The whole thing took over a week! The cleaning up of the root wasn’t too bad, we took it to a friend who has a sand blaster so that did a good job of stripping it back.

Wood turning is the worst form of wood working or craftsmanship. It is so wasteful especially when they use tons or resin then trim it to nothing.
@IanMacWoodturning Жыл бұрын
I know Jek, this root was so useful! It really is a shame it had to be wasted..

Finished surface coat looks very rough. Did you apply heat to the epoxy to remove bubbles or did you clean it before applying the final coating?
@IanMacWoodturning Жыл бұрын
The final coat isn’t epoxy, it’s UV resin so applying heat wouldn’t do anything. It has a very shiny finish.
