I made a cup from a leftover piece of oak.
The wood grain runs through the wood at an angle, so it should give a special wood grain pattern.
I first mounted the wood on a faceplate and turned the outside, then I mounted the cup reversed with the recess on the chuck and hollowed out the bowl.
After I had removed the tailstock and was turning out the centerpiece, the centerpiece unexpectedly broke off and pushed the cup out of alignment.
I tried to get the cup exactly centered again, but that didn't work, so I turned the outside again and then hollowed out the rest of the cup and finished it.
I finished the cup first with a layer of sealer and then friction polish it.
The cup has a diameter of 11 centimeters and is 10 centimeters high.
