Title pretty much says it all. This is a simple mug from aspen sticks cast in a blue resin. It’s coated in a food-safe resin (Max CLR) so it can actually be used. Thank you for liking, commenting and, of course, subscribing!

My favorite view is watching the drinkware being made. I would definitely want a set of these in my special cabinet.

Wow. Beautiful color with the aspen sticks. I don't think I have ever seen a cup or mug hollowed out that thin, incredible. Job well done. Stay safe and healthy. ❤😺

it was almost too thin. It needed the coating of food-safe epoxy to stiffen it back up!

What polish did you use? Its a food safe epoxy but then you polished it out with.....? Does the epoxy stay shiny if used and said polish wears off? Thanks!

I love all of your projects. Can I ask; do you use shellac as a sanding sealer?
@CASWoodcraft3 жыл бұрын
thanks. I’ve used Mylands Sanding Sealer a lot in the past, but I’ve been frustrated by how much it was darkening my wood in cases where I wanted the wood to stay pretty light, so I made some of my own sanding sealer by dissolving super blonde shellac flakes in denatured alcohol.

@@CASWoodcraft awesome, thanks for the reply. I'm finding small frustrations with traditional sanding sealers also, so I've mixed up some super blonde as well. Haven't used it on turnings yet, but good to hear you are liking it. Thanks for your videos.

What is the tool that you use to hollow out the center? I'm new to woodturning, and it seems so much easier.

It’s a Forstner bit. They come in all kinds of different sizes.

Just what is the pressure pot used for? I mean, what does it do for the resin? Also, could you do one in purple?
@CASWoodcraft3 жыл бұрын
It pushes air bubbles out of the resin. And yes, pretty much any color can be used.
