I turned this pitcher out of Holly wood, and the handle is Walnut. I used Lyle Jameson's hollowing rig to hollow out the inside. The flutes are made with the Flute Master. I finished the pitcher with Howard beeswax and orange oil.

So, I have been on Peter Brown's channel and been subscribed for quite some time; I saw the collab you made with the hair pieces, and loved that, but the thing about this video is I have been wondering how to make something like a pitcher, or something which you pour from, so, because I learned how to do that with this, (and because I enjoy your videos,) I am subscribing. Fantastic project! Quick question; why did you pack it full of shavings between turning sessions? Does that have something to do with the wood being green?
@CarlJacobson7 жыл бұрын
Thank you Ethan! Yes if green wood drys to fast it will crack, by packing it with the wet shavings it slows it down.

Nice piece, Carl. As always. my question is how do you keep the vessel from cracking around the pith when it dries? Did I notice the bottom is cored and plugged, or is it a risk you take. I have a love I really want to make into a vessel but want to kjnow She may to do about the pith left in the base. Thanks, Tim
@CarlJacobson7 жыл бұрын
Thank you Tim! Cleaning out the inside really reduces a lot of the stress. The thinner you can get it the less likely it will crack. If you put it in a paper bag with the shavings it will help slow down the drying process too.

That looks gorgeous! It was worth watching the video to see the wax go on the handle alone. Do you have to avoid putting the centres into the pith when turning a log? I was told once that its too soft for the centres to keep it firmly held in place. - Clint
